I especially loved the quilts made by your ancestors. We're never ready to see our parents go on, but what a blessing your mom has lived long enough to know about her great-granddaughter. That had to be such a joy and comfort to your mom. A very bittersweet post. I continue ...Sweet Angela-
A very bittersweet post. I continue to pray for your mother and your family's peace and comfort....Your treasures are wonderful....Even more than the beauty of the "things" (and they are truly beautiful in and of themselves and for what they represent historically), you have the added treasure of the memories....I remember when I first fell in love with all things old (at a very, very young age when my father passed and we were forced to sell our family farm at auction and I cried as they sold our "things...") - and again, when I started decorating my home with my "treasures" - my mother lamented why I would want such "old" things - she had never had anything "new" and couldn't understand why I would want anything old. So, the things I have are other people's history - but I love them all the same. My fear, though, is that one day, should I go before my DH, he will sell everything at a rummage sale for $1....(My neighbors are already lining up!!) My only child also doesn't "appreciate" the same things I do at this point either....So consider yourself blessed - in many, many, ways. Darbee's singing to your mother is a precious, precious....Take good care...Sweet Blessings ~ RobinTheCrankyCrowhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16314851714923955216noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4796604365803854908.post-82253583357414348342011-06-15T21:15:49.430-07:002011-06-15T21:15:49.430-07:00What a nice post Angela....I hope that your Mother...What a nice post Angela....I hope that your Mother is at peace and comfortable.
Hugs,
pattiAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4796604365803854908.post-75620487754868883282011-06-15T20:42:54.551-07:002011-06-15T20:42:54.551-07:00Angela,

When he did her service, he talked about how just like a ship sailing out, we lose sight of our beloveds on our shore. But on the other side, they're calling about her ship, we see her, she's coming in! Rest in that, and treasure your memories & your collections, you have such beauty to bring you comfort.anniehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03269208573774815462noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4796604365803854908.post-50335579227602398432011-06-15T19:25:05.091-07:002011-06-15T19:25:05.091-07:00Angela I love your treasures. Holly said she learned from your blog, that is so funny, my granddaughter Amanda,Andrew&Mollies mama, said the same thing about mine. Bless you Angela and your family. I think I mentioned once before that my mother was the type to get rid of everything. I have very little that I remember from my childhood ... certainly no furniture, kitchen bowls, etc ... & when she & my dad moved from their home in Pennsylvania (the home I grew up in) my mom had a big yard sale & sold just about everything they had because they were retiring to Florida. She didn't bother to tell me because she didn't think I'd want anything. Sigh! You are lucky to have a daughter who will appreciate these old things. Hopefully by then, I will be able to afford a much larger house, but your treasures will DEFINETELY be my treasures and as much as Darbee Rae loves "prinitive" stores now, I feel like she will treasure them too!Hollyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09798327507586058133noreply@blogger.com
