Time Is Swiftly Passing

Good evening friends. I was visiting another blog this morning and glanced over to the side bar and there was a picture of the last post I had done and under it ,,, 4 weeks ago.  Hmmmm,,, could it have really been that long already?  It seemed winter just dragged by, however since the weather has gotten pretty, time seems to be flying.  So,,, I made it a point to sit long enough this evening to visit with all of you.

When we last visited, it was too cool to visit on the porch.  Do you have a porch?  Maybe it is just a Southern thing, but I just love the front porch.  Until it gets too hot to sit out there, you will find me there most evenings after supper.  A few weeks back we purchased two huge ferns for the porch.  I had tried growing them out there before and had no luck, however I saw on Pinterest what to add to the water and the proper way to water them.  So I have two huge ferns and two swinging baskets that are doing wonderful.  And it just tickles this southern gal's fancy!

Yes, nothing says The South like a front porch, and ferns.

As I have told you many times, it is so hard to find goodies around here at prices you can afford.  We are blessed to have a family member who remodels homes and does repair work.  Occasionally he comes across an item he thinks Mr P. might want to rebuild for his craft show.  A good while back he got this child's roll top desk.  I knew immediately Mr. P. was NOT going to sell this.  It was going to be mine.

Last weekend the mister decided to get busy working on it.  I was so excited.  I even visited him in the shop,{which I do not do often}  to check on it's progress.. By night fall, it was finished and in the house.

I am so proud of it.

On Thursday of last week, two of my besties and myself went on an overnight trip to a near by Casino.  We use to do this so often, however it had been over a year since we had been off together.

We had so much fun!  What do you do at 3am in the morning when you are up all night?

We still haven't figured out what to call this meal?  To late for supper, too early for breakfast,,,hmmmm ,, but it sure was good.  I had super good luck for a change, so on Saturday the girls and myself went on a shopping trip.

It was a good trip and we found lots of goodies..  Mostly things we probably didn't need, but sure had fun.  And just a few minutes ago the phone rang, and Holly wants to leave in the morning and take a quick trip to the Great Smokey Mts.  HeHe,,, sounds like a winner to me.

While I have been busy running around and having fun, Mr. P. has been busy building in the shop.

.

Well, that is about it for this visit, Hope all of you are having a wonderful summer and life is treating you well. Until next time...

Porch Party Canceled Due to Cold Weather!!!

Good evening Friends  I thought I would entertain you all out on the front porch this evening.  I have it all decorated with my Patriotic décor, however Mr Winter has seem to sneak around the corner again  After many warm and beautiful days I thought cold temps. were gone for good here in the South. Mr. P. says this is Blackberry winter as the blackberries are blooming around the home place  Our mornings and evenings the last few days have been pretty chilly and this evening is no different.  So I will give you a sneek at where we should be chatting this evening, however lets go inside where it will be more comfortable for us all

Yes, you could be sitting in this old rocker that belonged to my grandmother.  Had it all clean and waiting for your visit.

The old dresser once belonged to my Daddy's Mother.  Daddy would be so proud that I am using it. Even had the old vintage fan plugged in and ready to cool you on our hot muggy evenings.  Instead tonight we need a fire pit to keep warm. {smile}

This is a new addition to the porch this year.  This old enamel top table belonged to Mr P's Mama.  The legs had rotted off and he made legs for it for me to use.  I so hope one day to put it in the kitchen for a breakfast nook.  Love it on the proch  A perfect spot to serve up home made ice cream a little later.

This is my favorite place to sit this Spring.  For the last few years I could not sit in the swing because of my hip and back . Now that everything is better you will find me here most evenings. And this is what you will find me doing.  A new hobby,,, cross stitching.

Come on inside and I will show you a few little projects I have done.

\

I just love doing the little pillow tucks.  Think I will stick to simple things for right now. All of these patterns were freebies that I found on the computer

Okay...let me catch you up on a few things around the home place.  Mother's Day was wonderful.  The best in a long time.  I felt wonderful and cooked for the family.  Mr. P. grilled and I did all the sides and even baked a cake.  We had a great time.  Here is Darbee Rae and I being silly.

Love this girl .  Couldn't ask for a better daughter.  So thankful God saw fit to give her to me and her Daddy

If you look close you will see I had already stepped out of my shoes.  Sorry!!!  Mr P. wasn't suppose to get our feet  {hehe}

And of course you all know how much I love these two girls.  God has truly blessed our family  Such a good day spent with Holly's family and Kathy and her family.

On Thursday, Darbee Rae graduated from kindergarten.  She was so excited as well as our whole family.  I just loved this picture of them praying at the beginning of the program.

They sang and danced their little hearts away.

Sorry it's a little fuzzy.  Darbee Rae and her diploma

She had lots of family and friends who attended the program to share in her big moment.  Papa and her Dad even got off work to join us. We all went to lunch afterward and she got so many neat gifts and lots of money.  Yes,,, she knew exactly what she was going to buy.  A DVD player for the car.  And she did..

Today we went out of town to share in another happy day for our Nephew's wife Sara.  She graduated college today.  She and Christopher are such a sweet and wonderful couple.  Christopher is the son of Maudie and Leonard that I talk about here all the time.

Congratulations again Sara.  We enjoyed you sharing today with all of us.

So now that school is out for the summer for my girls,, who knows what we will be up to  Looking forward to some road trips, and catching up on some shopping .

I sure have enjoyed you  stopping by this evening.  Hope you brought along a sweater or you will be quite cool as you leave.  I have enjoyed you visiting.  I will leave you with a warm and cozy picture of my latest treasure from Mr P.  This chest sits at the foot of our bed.  Might need to pull a quilt out of it for the bed tonight.  Summer time where are you?  It's almost Memorial Day!!!

Until next time.

A Hodgepodge of A Post

Well I know,,, I think it's time I stopped long enough to visit with all of you.  I am so thankful that my health has improved and I am having so much fun doing things lately that I haven't been able to do in forever.  Thus,,, my absence from blogging.  I still stop in and read your blogs and try to keep up, but have been sorry about replying and gossiping with you.

I have had so much fun with Darbee Rae.  Yes, I saw her often, but to actually play with her and go to the playhouse was almost impossible.  If I did, I was in pain.  So we have had so much fun.  I have picked her up from school on several occasions and we have had Nana and Darbee time.

Yes, we have played in the playhouse.  This is the kitchen/desk area.  And she has come home with Nana and here she is a photographer,,,, taking pictures of her baby.

Yes, my Ott lite works perfect when playing . We even went on an outing to American Girl Bristo.  Last year when we had reservations, I wasn't able to go as I was too sick.  What a fun day we had.

The food was delicious and Darbee Rae had so much fun. She couldn't wait for me to see the bathroom.  They had a place for her doll to wait while she was busy,  HEHE!

Of course a trip that far away, and we had to do a little Nana and Mama shopping.  We found a wonderful antique mall that had booths.  I will definitely go back there and take the Mister.  Was wonderful.

We couldn't go to the big city and not stop by Ikea and do some day dreaming.  I just loved these kitchens.

Don't you just love these sinks?  And while we are on the subject of kitchens, I have also been doing some rearranging.  The Mister use to say he would never walk around in the house at dark without a light, because he never knew where the furniture would be.  That changed when I was sick.  It has been years since I felt like doing something different.  Until now,,,,,, In the kitchen I replaced the store bought island with the old flour bin that belonged to his grandparents

Love the old chicken feeder with my dishes in it.

See the old chair I have at the end of the island?  It too belonged to Mr. P.'s granddaddy also.  He sat in this chair at their table many years ago.  He even weaved the bottom himself from white oak strips from a tree he cut.

Can you guess where the towel came from?  {smile}  Darbee Rae made everyone in the family one for Easter.  She drew it onto sandpaper and her Mommy helped her then iron it onto dishtowels.  Thought that was really cool.  An end of the year project Holly will be doing with her class at school.

Yes I know,,, this is getting to be a long post.  So I will leave you with some photos of my Easter and Spring décor here at the home place.  I leave mine out until the first of May.  I just love the Spring/Easter season.

This little black high chair was one of my purchases from our trip to TN.

Loved this old lard tin.  It was also a purchase from our trip

This lantern was my favorite purchase.  I had been wanting one for awhile

Sorry, didn't look too good with the flash.  Love the little chair.  That was a purchase from the antique shop when we visited American Girl.

l

Some of our azaleas Easter weekend.

We hide gifts here for Darbee Rae.  A fun afternoon.

Only Darbee would ask for scissors to open the gifts with.  hehe.  Well I hope you have stayed with me this time.  Sorry, but once I get started, it's hard to stop talking to you.

Mr. P and I wish you a very good weekend and a Blessed Sunday.  Until next time...
