About Me

My photo
I have been married to my childhood sweetheart for 42 wonderful years. I have been blessed with one daughter who is grown and gone! She and her hubby have blessed us with a precious grandchild, Darbee Rae. She is eight years old and the sunshine in our days. I have always been a stay at home maid, cook, doctor, babysitter, taxi, wife, mother, and grandmother. I enjoy crafting. My interests include primitives, vintage and colonial styles. I love decorating my home. I enjoy traveling with my hubby and friends, reading, and trying different recipes. I am a Christian and enjoy activities within my church. I hope you enjoy reading about my daily adventures in crafting, shopping, and enjoying life thru the eyes of my darling grand daughter.

One Family's Trash....Definitely My Treasure

A while back we got a phone call from a family member who knows how much I love old and primitive things.  His neighbor had passed away, and had no close family. She had never married and only had a few nieces alive.  They had come and gone thru her home and took very few things and told him it looked like all junk and to dispose of it any way he wanted to.  I had met the little old lady in church and it was so sad to enter her home and know that no one wanted things she had treasured all these years. They will have a sale later , and I hope to be one of the first customers, however they shared with us some neat treasures.  Thought I would share them  with you.

I got lots of old doilys. Can't wait to use them in my crafts.
There were hundreds of old photos.  Some like the two on top were so old they were taken on the tin type.  So sad, no one knows who they are.
This was neat to me,, a wedding picture taken in 1905
A baby dress already aged to perfection.
An old sewing machine in need of repair. I see  maybe a table in its future.
An old tub that they used to do laundry in.  Won't this look pretty when Spring does arrive with flowers planted in it?
Loved the old sewing basket.  There was all kinds of goodies stored in it.  The old watch was so neat, and the timy little baby doll.  It's eyes actually open and close.  It is still in its orginial package.
Hope you have enjoyed my treasures.  Wishing warm weather coming your way, and a full filled day of treasure hunting for you.

  1. What wonderful treasures you got! I cannot understand why a lot of the younger generations don't see beauty in this "stuff". I have a house full of things that no one else wanted. Those are great old pictures--shame there are no names on them. Thanks for sharing!
    Love,

  3. What great treasures you got! Nothing can take the place of bringing back sweet memories! Thanks for stopping by my place and leaving sweet comments. (The photo you like was taken at our church event that I help design many years ago. I was the MC and dressed up like Minnie Pearl. The other ladies wore crazy outfits that I designed. Some of them "Cotton dress" I just took and old dress and glued cotton balls all over it and added a straw hat (old hat with drinking straws stuck everywhere)
One was a ball room tea length dress (pined satin Christmas ball to it and added tea bags to the bottom. In all I did 26 outfits and we had a blast. We did in like a fashion show and then all the ladies at the church made homemade desserts and we charged $5 per person to see the show and eat from the dessert bar. We had so much fun and raised money to help build a new fellowship building. Sorry this is so long but brought back fun memories for me. Just became your newest follower. Blessings, Vicky

  4. What great treasures you got! Have you seen the pin cushions with the old doily/potholders stuffed and placed on candlesticks? I have some stashed with that in mind...someday. I love to find old sewing boxes, I always think I have hit the jackpot and can't wait to get home to go through them! What fun and how nice of them to think of you!
