I have been married to my childhood sweetheart for 42 wonderful years. I have been blessed with one daughter who is grown and gone! She and her hubby have blessed us with a precious grandchild, Darbee Rae. She is eight years old and the sunshine in our days. I have always been a stay at home maid, cook, doctor, babysitter, taxi, wife, mother, and grandmother. I enjoy crafting. My interests include primitives, vintage and colonial styles. I love decorating my home. I enjoy traveling with my hubby and friends, reading, and trying different recipes. I am a Christian and enjoy activities within my church. Welcome to My Craft Room

Happy Friday friends.  Hoping you are all looking forward to the weekend.  Oh, I just love Saturday mornings when the Mister does not have to work.  Nothing better than a lazy Saturday morning sharing our coffee together.

I have many times invited you to sit on the porch with me, and this week has been a perfect week to have coffee out there in the morning.  We even broke a low temp. for a morning low one day this week. So early in the morning this is where you could find me.

Yes, life is good.  Sitting in the swing and watching the hummingbirds at the feeder and the squirrels playing in the yard.  Enjoying God's Beautiful World.  But eventually I had to go inside and get busy. Mr. P's tomatoes are coming in great, so I made homemade salsa this week.  Great eating in the winter.

I have also begun crafting upstairs in the craft room.  Yes, September and our annual craft show will be here way before I am ready.  And that brings me to my topic for the day.  We have chatted on the porch, the sunroom, and you have toured the other rooms in the house,.  I have always been hesitant to invite you into the craft room.  All you crafters know sometime we need a sign on the door that says, "Enter at your own Risk"  My craft room gets quite messy when I am working for my show, so,,, before I get in there in full swing, thought I would share it with you.  Now, don't get excited, it's not a room that would be worthy of a magazine, however I am so thankful to have a place I can craft and close the door when it gets too messy.

This is the view from the doorway.  The small double doors hide the sewing machine.  The cabinet above holds my cross stitch materials and felt. The bottom cabinet hides a filing cabinet.  My dear Mr. P. made all the cabinets for me and turned this spare bedroom into my craft room.

Continuing on the same wall, this is a tiny workspace

And the cabinet above this area, holds my patterns.  I have them in notebooks and sorted according to the season ,etc.

My paint rack is way too small. {hehe}  I have got to go through and weed out all the old paint.  Need more room, eh?

Can you tell the sun was shining when I snapped these pictures.  This old peddle machine is what I learned to sew on.  It was my great grandmothers.

Mr. P. made my table, and this my friends is where I do my crafting.

These old lockers from a work place are wonderful for storage.  Lots of supplies hid away in them,

And hid in this cabinet is my ironing board.

You met Miss Maggie ages ago, but today she is dressed in my work aprons.  She keeps me company while I work the day away. The white door to the right hides my walk in closet where I store my materials and such.

Just to prove to you I don't waste my day away on the porch here are some WIP that I have to finish for the show.  Lots of stitcheries waiting to be framed.

Just finished this cute "Witch Upon A Star ".  It's a pattern by Sagebrush and Sassafras.  Got the spindles painted to make more of these.  Loved how she turned out.

Pumpkin men are waiting for heads so they can be assembled.

Ghost are ready and waiting for a new home.  This pattern is by Sassafras Hill Primitives.

Well I hope you have enjoyed visiting with me in the craft room today.  Sure was nice to have you stop by.

Do something this weekend to make you smile,,, and don't forget to stop back by soon and we will visit again.  Hugs and smiles until next time........

And Our Journey Continues

Good evening friends.  Hope you are having a great week.  Today has been Monday all day long.  Why you might ask?  Well my Mister had yesterday as a holiday and did not work so with that said today is my first "work day" for this week.

On Sunday Mr. P. and I celebrated our anniversary!!!  Are you ready for this?  41 yes 41 wonderful years of marriage.  Those of you that have followed along with me all these years since I have been blogging know the story already. But for my new followers, here we go again.  We were childhood sweethearts.  Liked each other from the time I was in 5th grade and he was in 6th.  My Daddy pastored the church where his family attended.  Mr. P. was the only boy I ever dated.  We were married when I was 17 and he was 18.  I graduated from high school in June and we were married in July.  I loved him then and love him so much more today. God has truly blessed us with a wonderful daughter and granddaughter and a good Christian  son in law.

We left out early Sunday morning for a quick over night road trip.  We had heard of a neat restaurant in Alabama and that was our first destination.  We arrived in time to have lunch.

Their specialty is seafood.  The atmosphere was really neat and very Southern.  They brought out "vittles" before your meal.  They also served hot cornbread and flipped it at your table in a little iron skillet

Don't you just love the tin plate and cup they served our food in? Notice the onion circles on my plate?  They were to die for.  They were called pickled onions.  Wow, I would have loved to gotten that recipe from them.  Just made the meal.  The inside was very rustic and maybe I should say "prim"

These were divider windows. Just covered in old tin.  They opened with chains.  Yes, the food was delicious too.  What fun we had. Mr. P. looks quite happy here don't you think?

We shopped at a few antique stores on our outing.  We both picked up a few little things but nothing that I was really impressed with.  This store has the best prices around for antiques and junk.

We reached our destination later in the evening.  Our room was beautiful and we had a great view from the 7th floor of the pool.  Looks inviting huh?

Sure was nice to get away even if it was just overnight.  Now we are back home and each day is another day together as we look forward to another wonderful year together. It is a journey we will travel together for as long as God see fit.

I have been really busy in the craft room, and this year Darbee Rae has decided to help me a little.

Papa cut her some wood and she is painting them orange.  They will be little pumpkins when the stem and moss is added later.  Love her in there working beside me and talking constantly.  Sure makes time go by fast.

Before I leave you tonight, I have to give a shout out to a very special person in Mr. P. and my life.  We have been friends with this couple for many, many years.  You have visited Dimple's home with me when we go to TN. to visit .  Today her hubby, Roger retired from his job. We are so proud for Roger as he too starts on a new journey in his life.  This was taken this morning as he started to work for the last time.  How neat!!  Roger my Mister is so proud for you, but I think he is eat up with jealously.{smile}  Now you have to bring Dimple to visit any time she wants.  We are waiting on ya'll to come.

.
Well that is all tonight dear friends.  I have so enjoyed you stopping by.  Have a great week and we will visit again soon.

Until next time.......

Yes, I DO Have something to Blog about!!!

Hello friends, I am so glad  you came to visit with me.. I have something exciting to tell you.  Well, it's exciting for me, maybe not for some of you. {smile}  I was sooo excited last night just anticipating your visit I decided to do some baking so we could have some treats when you stopped by.  You can take your pick of apple dumplings or banana bread squares, and your choice of drink.

This has been a really good week thus far.  Yes, I know it is a holiday week with the fourth being on Friday, but it has been great for me for another reason.  Just bear with me as a babble on and get to the point of my being so happy.  We built our home when we were only 5 years into our marriage.  We were both in our early 20's and we were pinching pennies to have a brand new house.  So,,,, we made some bad mistakes. We had central heat installed but NO air.Well we are not young and foolish anymore, and Mr. P. will be retiring in about 6 years so we have decided to have a new heating and AIR system installed in our home!!!!! Yey,,smiles,,, giggles!!!!  Now those of you who assume that is just a normal thing,, let me tell you, you have never spent a long, hot sticky summer here in the south!! We will celebrate 41 years of marriage later this month and never have we had air conditioning.  Not central air,,, we have however used window units and they have been a life saver.

Okay now that you know why I am so happy,,,, there is always something that puts a damper on the situation, right?  Now, I love company, and Monday morning I was up before daylight anxiously awaiting the guys coming to do the installation.  They arrived and all was well.  It sounded like they were tearing my floor apart, but was sweet music to my ears.  Up in the morning when it became so hot under there they left to cool off for awhile.  It was so quite in the house.  I was sitting on the sofa when I heard a noise similar to something being sanded with sandpaper.  I look over at the hearth where the sound was coming from and couldn't believe my eyes.  I had a visitor that I was not expecting and I was NOT happy to have visit with me.  A HUGE SNAKE!!!  yes,,, crawling behind the fire screen.  We figure they had disturbed him under the house and he found his way in through the ash dump on the outside of the chimney.  The workers had gone already and I was with THAT SNAKE all alone in my house.  I called MR. P. at work and said", Come home now there is a SNAKE in the house"  His reply was , "You got to be kidding"  I would probably have slapped him had he been close.  I said HURRY, and hung up.  I grabbed my purse and was going to leave, but then thought what if it came out into the room?  So I stood behind the sofa with my eyes glued to the hearth until Mr..P. got home.  Luckily he saw him right away and took him out.  Did he kill the snake you are asking?  Well,,, no.  He put it in a bag, and took it off in a wooded area on his way back to work and let it go.  Duh,,,, a good snake is a dead snake  Just look at the unwanted visitor!!

This morning when the man came in to install the thermostat, he was kidding me and asking me to go under the house and remove the cobwebs, and I laughed and told him about the snake.  He is terrified of snakes too!! Bet he worked under the house scared all day long.   Hehe

But just look at this beauty!!!  I am soooo excited. I will sit in our home and be thankful hopefully for many hot southern summers to come for this major purchase we have made.  It has been an awful long time coming..  I am so thankful that we were able to do this. We are so blessed. Now if we can keep it from getting stolen for the copper. That is going on all around our area.

Well I have so enjoyed your visit.. I am staying busy in the craft room, creating fall/Christmas items already for my show in September.  Mr.P. has been working in the shop.  Just look at the old pie safe someone gave him.  I don't have a before photo but it was in need of some TLC, and I love the way it turned out.  Oh how I wish I had more room in my home.

  The garden is coming in and I have been busy with beans.  Just look at all the beans waiting for me to prepare for winter.  At least it will be much nicer in the kitchen this time putting them away now that I have air..{smile}

Well guess that is all my news this time around.  Hope all of you have a fun filled and safe Fourth of July.  We will talk again soon, I promise.

Unitl next time
