I have been married to my childhood sweetheart for 42 wonderful years. I have been blessed with one daughter who is grown and gone! She and her hubby have blessed us with a precious grandchild, Darbee Rae. She is eight years old and the sunshine in our days. I have always been a stay at home maid, cook, doctor, babysitter, taxi, wife, mother, and grandmother. I enjoy crafting. My interests include primitives, vintage and colonial styles. I love decorating my home. I enjoy traveling with my hubby and friends, reading, and trying different recipes. I am a Christian and enjoy activities within my church. I hope you enjoy reading about my daily adventures in crafting, shopping, and enjoying life thru the eyes of my darling grand daughter.

Pillow Talk

Happy Happy Friday to all my friends.  Do you have plans for a wonderful weekend?  Well junkin' was on my list this morning, but woke to a cool, cloudy, rainy day so decided to stay in and just be lazy.  Not too hard for me to do!(lol) Tomorrow there is a small craft fair we will venture out to but there are never prim booths there.  But one can hope that will change and I might pick up a goodie or two.

Today I have a question for you?  Do you HATE to buy bed pillows?  Well the mister and myself had no choice as ours were getting pretty old and worn out.  So with my better half in tow, we went out shopping for comfy pillows.  Yep, he had to come along on this shopping trip, because I did not want to hear complaints if I bought the wrong feeling pillow.

Now I don't know about you, but I really get attatched to my pillow. Many nights when all is dark and quite, I have layed my head on that pillow , wide awake mind you and cried as I thought of my Daddy when we knew his time was near, and again when he was no longer a daily part of my life.  Many years later as Mother grew older and left me also, my pillow held my head as I cried.  I have communicated with my Maker and poured my heart out to him in the stillness of the night.  He gave me peace in the wee hours of the morning.  That pillow was a welcome sight after many long hours at the hospital awaiting the birth of Darbee Rae,  and held my head as I finally layed  down for a quick nap before going right back to see my grandbaby again. Coming home after many road trips and finally crawling into MY bed, nothing felt better than that pillow.  Oh,, and the dreams that have been dreamed as I slept so soundly on that wonderful soft rectangle form.  Yes, I could go on and on,,, but after a long search,,,, we have new bed pillows.

I have to admit, they are awesome.  We made a good choice.  Now you  might wonder what I did with  my old pillows.  Usually they are recycled and go on the porch as throws for the furniture out there.  But this time they will be used for something quite different.

Stuffing!!! Those old pillows  gave me pounds and pounds of stuffing.  Great stuffing.  Just like the old Morning Glory.  The pillows had a coating of something  on them to hold the shape.  I just cut the thin layer of that away, and now I have lots of stuffing.   All I have to do is get busy and put it to use.

So, if you don't already, before you trash an old pillow, check inside.  There may be a treasure of stuffing waiting to be used on all of our prim goodies.

Well, enjoyed chatting with you today.  Fridays are Mr. P and my date night.  So,,, gota run and get ready for an afternoon out to eat and maybe some shopping.  Sounds like fun, ugh?  Have a wonderful weekend whatever your plans may be, and stay safe.  We will talk again soon.....

Unfinished Projects, My Excuse, and Ramblings

Good Tuesday evening to all!  Hope your week is going great.  It has been a while since I have invited you in to sit and chat so I felt guilty and decided to bake a cake to share.  Would you like a piece and some coffee, tea, soda, or just a glass of ice water?   Oh  and I have cold milk if you choose. This is my all time favorite , a Caramel Cake.  Up until a few months ago I could NOT do caramel icing.  A sweet blogging friend shared her Mom's recipe and I have been so grateful  as I have already made it several times and it is always perfect.  Hope you like it as well.

As most of you know I have started punch needle and I love it.  A while back I purchased this Easter pattern. It is called Jelly Bean Adventures by Jan Mott.

I was so excited to start punching on it. This is where I am today.

Yes, I know that Easter has come and gone.  And I have a good way to go don't you think?  Just one of many WIP's that are lying around the homeplace.

More items that are not finished.  If you are lucky one day you will see these finished as well.  They will be Christmas ornaments for a prim tree.   Do I just start something and skip to another project and not finish any items?  Heck, no!  I really have a much better excuse.

Like having a tea party with Darbee Rae

And spending our days shopping.  Those of you with grandchildren know what I am talking about.  She is going to be my one and only  grandchild and right now I am throughlly enjoying my time spent with her.  She will start school in the fall so this summer, I am spending as much time as I can with her before she grows up and starts on her journey of making her own little friends and all the activities that school will bring about.  Life is uncertain and we are not promised tomorrow, so my work will get done eventually but right now my days are full of fun, family, and love.

Mr. P however has been busy in the workshop.  No craft shows in our area so he has been creating things for me.  So sweet of him don't you think?

Love my new wall display. Thank You Mr. P. You work so hard while I am out playing around with my girls.

Love my door box.  I have been wanting  one of these for quite a while.  He even made it so that I could put it on the outside on the glass door.   Well, there may not be shows around here but this weekend I felt like I had been to one with my goodies.

I want to share an update with all of you.  Remember a while back I ask for prayer for all the families that were affected by the lay off at Mr. P's work?  Well I am so thankful to report to you that with the exception of two former employees, everyone has found a job and is currently working.  One of the ones without a job is going back to school for training in a new field.  Thanks to all who said a prayer for these families.  We feel so much better.

I so enjoyed you stopping by tonight and having some cake and coffee with me. Hope you enjoyed your visit as much as I enjoyed having you.  I am leaving you with a photo of Darbee Rae.  One of my absolute favorite.  Holly dresses her so cute when we are out and about, but sometime Darbee Rae just HAS to dress herself.  On this day when we were going to be playing at home,,, she was a ROCK STAR and she was really dressed for the occassion.  Until we visit again......
..

P.S. If you do not follow Holly's blog , please go over and visit her post for today.  There is a message in it for all of us. http://hollyanddarbee.blogspot.com/

Dear Old Church Hymnal

Good afternoon everyone.  I know it's been awhile since we have visited.  Last week was Spring Break here as was with many of you.  Now I know I don't have a child still in school and it has been quite a few years since Holly finished college, but old habits are hard to break.  Thus, the reason of my absence from blogland.  When Holly was home Spring Break was the week to kick back and do nothing.  We rarely went anywhere as it was always crowded, but it was a special week here at home.  A kind of "Do nothing" week.  Are you seeing where I am going?  Well, last week I did nothing.  Nothing to share with you.  Just a quite, be lazy kind of week.  I did  spend one day with my girls and we ate fast food and watched the movie "HOP".  Darbee really enjoyed it.

It was a short week for the Mister.  An early release day on Thursday and off on Friday.  Saturday was a busy one as we went around town to Market Day on the Square and to a few antique shops.  Did not find anything but enjoyed the hunt.  And speaking of hunt, afterward there was a big egg hunt at church for the little ones.  Always fun to watch and spend time with friends.

And then Sunday was a special service at church, lunch with family, and a visit from Darbee Rae to get her Easter goodies. So ... now you know why I have not been visiting.

Speaking of Easter Sunday, brings me to my title.  I took piano lessons since I was in grammer school.  You know back in the day a music teacher would come to school and teach you if your parents would pay her.  I was so excited when in 4th grade I got to get out of class for 30 minutes one time a week and go to the lunch room up on the big stage and have piano

I continued my lessons until high school.  Now I am no way a professional but I have enjoyed playing for various churches over the years.  When I first started piano, my parents bought me a church hymnal like we used at church.  My teacher would pick out a song and we would work on that arrangment until I could play it well.

This song book has been with me at every church service I have played  at for over 45 years.  When I first got it I was madly in love (mind you it was 5th grade when I got the book) with  my boyfriend, who is now my husband of 38 years.  So on every 25th  page  I had written a love quote.

When Holly got old enough for piano lessons, she too practiced from this book.  There are notations from her music teacher as she taught her lessons as well.

The pages have long been worn out, some completely loose from the binding, and the front has been duck taped for many years.

I recall my Daddy saying when he would wear out one Bible and get a new one, it's just not the same.  Well, I know now what he meant.  As of Sunday this old song book with sooooo many memories of my childhood and that of my daughter has been retired.  This book has been to many celebrations as songs were played for graduation services, Bible school meetings, Baptisims, revival services,Christmas Plays, and oh sooooo many funerals.  It has set on the piano thru thousands of sermons and speeches from respected Preachers.  So many who are no longer with us but have gone on to meet their maker.

Come Sunday morning, I will take a new Church Hymnal with me as I approach the piano.  It contains the same songs that we are all so familiar with, but all the memories along with my old song book  will be tucked safely away on the bookshelf at home.

Thank you old red song book for all the years that you shared with me.  I learned so much from your pages, I grew from a child to an adult, wife, and mother as I read music from your pages.  As I move on to a brand new shiny book, I will always remember the memories that we share.

Hopefully I have not bored all of you.  I have a few new prim goodies I will be back to share with you soon.  Hope you are all having a great week and welcome to my new follower.
Until next time.....
