An Awesome Anniversary Weekend, and the days of July

Good morning all my blog friends.  Hope you are having a great week thus far.  I just have to share what an exciting weekend I have had.  If you follow along with me on facebook then you might just get a little bored as you already know what I am going to say.

First  let me tell you I am not telling this to brag, but to let you all know just how thankful I am.  Guess I could have titled this post as "Thankful Tuesday." Our anniversary was yestesday, July 13.  Mr. P. and I have been married for 42 wonderful years.  However our celebrating started a little early.  On Thursday after work, we drove the 2 hour drive to Alabama to the Casino.  I love to play slots, and Mr. P. being the great man he is was taking me as part of the celebration.. He is so good because he doesn't like to gamble so he just sits beside me or stands behind and watches.  I didn't get rich but played a long time.  You know we are not young anymore, but being out until 4 in the morning was really quite nice.  We had some good long conversations on the ride home so early in the morning.  We went out for supper on Friday night , and on Saturday we just stayed around home.

We met the girls on Saturday evening and went for a swim.  Let me say, I had not been in a pool in over 20 years.  As you know I have had some serious health problems in the last few years and it was just not possible.  But not Saturday night.  I got in the pool and really surprised myself that I could still swim and float.  It was a wonderful evening with family.

Mr. P. told me on Saturday evening , he had plans for Sunday.  That was all the information he would share with me.  He set the alarm on Saturday night and wouldn't tell me what time we were getting  out of bed.  I had no idea what he was up to.  Let me say here, you all know I dearly love this man.  He is wonderful, BUT not one to do something on a whim.  He thinks, plans, and plans some more before doing anything.  And as good as he is I would not consider him a true romantic.  So,,, back to the story.  We get up and I go into the bathroom and get dressed.  I come out and put on my make up, and he is just waiting around for me to get ready.  Still will not give me a clue as to what is about to take place.   He does tell me I will need my water bottle.  So I assumed as hot as the weather has been here, we were going to a flea market or something out doors.  UGH!!  I was thinking he knows I don't like heat....

About 10 miles up the road right before getting on the interstate he tells me he is taking me to Pigeon Forge, TN. for dinner.  Now mind you that is about a 5 hour drive from home.  I was so shocked, I started to cry.  All this way for supper???? Yes, he is a wonderful man, but I was blown away.  This man that never does anything on impulse.  But you haven't heard anything..... I said, we don't have clothes... His reply was you have what you need.  He had slipped and packed a bag while I was getting dressed.  This man, who I don't give credit for remembering his name on a good day, had everything we needed for the night.  Even down to my make up, phone chargers and what was so sweet,,, my book I read each night before turning in to bed. All without me knowing anything was going on at all.  A few hours up the road, he also told me  we had a picnic lunch and a cooler of drinks.  Now do you see why I love this man so much???  And why we had such an amazing weekend? And just look.  Men even know how to pack.  Not even a piece of luggage!! I could have never left home even for one night with such a small bag.  {smile}

He has always made our anniversary a special one. Gold bracelets, flowers, perfume, etc.  but the fact that he did all of this made this one  so very special to my heart.  We had a wonderful meal at Cheddars.  Love that place and we don't have one close to home.  Yes their steak and chicken, baked potato, broccoli casserole, and that delicious sweet bourbon glaze for dipping is what we drove 5 hours to have for dinner

We shopped at our favorite shops for the remainder of the day . We also toured some of the roads less traveled.  I just love the back roads and curvy roads around the mountains.  And of course we had to take coffee and a late night snack back to the hotel room with us.  Love this place as well.

Okay, now back to reality.  July has been a busy one.  We always look forward to summer as winter can sometime seem so long, however summer seems to be so busy.  Trying to get in all we can before once again fall approaches.  We had not had a yard sale in some time, and with Holly and Stacy hoping to sell their house soon, we decided now was the time.  You know, they can be so much trouble.  We always have it at Holly's because she is in town and I have to say I was impressed with all the people and with the sales.  We had a wonderful Saturday and a lot of items sold.

On July 4th it is a tradition to meet at the Davis' and eat and watch the fire works that the city has at the high school which is just up the street.  Family and friends bring food and we have a wonderful time catching up and munching.  Saturday night was no different.

However just as the fireworks started so did the rain.  Look at us all sitting with umbrella's waiting for the excitement to start.  One little girl wasn't worried about herself, she was protecting her babies from the rain.  Thought this was so sweet.

Thankfully the hard rain waited until the fireworks was over.  When the Davis' house sells we are all going to miss this tradition.

Well, today is my Monday since the mister was off and we were out of town yesterday, so back to the craft room and getting things done for the craft show in September.  Time is passing by and I still have so much work to do.

Thanks to all of you who stop by to visit.  If you comment and I don't respond, I am not getting all  the comments through my e mail.  Don't know what to do about it.  But I do enjoy your comments and thanks for visiting.  You are all special to me.  Until next time.
