About Me

My photo
I have been married to my childhood sweetheart for 42 wonderful years. I have been blessed with one daughter who is grown and gone! She and her hubby have blessed us with a precious grandchild, Darbee Rae. She is eight years old and the sunshine in our days. I have always been a stay at home maid, cook, doctor, babysitter, taxi, wife, mother, and grandmother. I enjoy crafting. My interests include primitives, vintage and colonial styles. I love decorating my home. I enjoy traveling with my hubby and friends, reading, and trying different recipes. I am a Christian and enjoy activities within my church. I hope you enjoy reading about my daily adventures in crafting, shopping, and enjoying life thru the eyes of my darling grand daughter.

It Was One Of Those Days

Good day friends. Just had to drop in and say hello and chat with you for awhile. Things have been pretty quite here at the home place. This past week was rather boring and uneventful. Mr. P. has had contractors out just about every day getting estimates on a new roof and companies giving estimates on all new window replacements for the home. He is nearing retirement in the next few years so he is wanting to get all major home improvements taken care of.  I love it as I love when there are changes going on.  Will be sure to post photos when everything is under way.

When we last visited we were in the process of tearing out the bay window and opening up the sunroom/dining room into the kitchen.  The before pictures are on my last post.  Here is the results of lots of hard work for the Mister. Looking out into my new dining room.

You can see the old dough box has a new home in the dining room.  It was in the kitchen as my island.

All the wallpaper gone , walls sanded, and new paint.  Love the color.

Yep, kinda boring \it has been until Thursday.  My day started out normal.  Well, let me explain. I did get out of bed on the same side I  have gotten out on for over 30 years.  That was the extent of normal.  I fixed my coffee and was peacefully sitting in the great room , ready to visit with all of you and thought I heard the door bell ring.  Being that I was in my pajamas, I jumped up and spilled my whole cup of coffee all over me,.  UGH,,,, just the beginning.

The night before Mr. P. was trying to fix my dusting spray because he had dropped it and broken the top.  Showing me it would spray anyway,,,, he got it on the hardwood floor.  Before work he had told me how slick the floor was and to be careful.  Know where this is heading huh?  Well, I did remember and with sock feet entered the great room with care,  Yes, I remembered the first time,,. Later in the morning went be-bopping in there and forgot and down I went.  With quite a bang I might add. . Before I could get up, blood was flowing everywhere.  I busted my knuckle, bent my ring into my finger and cut it badly, skinned my wrist on both arms, and have a huge bruise on my upper arm. Not to mention the knot on the hip I fell on with all my weight.  And I am not a little person!!!  I am so thankful that nothing was broken. For a minute I wasn't sure I hadn't.  Needless to say the Mister got a phone call from me at work.  Don't you think it was his fault? {smile} This is a picture after a few days ,  Looking better already.

But the day was not all bad.  Sitting there on the sofa feeling sorry for myself and the mail lady delivered a package.  It was for Darbee Rae so the girls came after school  to see what she had.  As you know there seems to be a decline here on blogger.  Just not as many folks posting as there use to be.  But we have met and made some wonderful friends since I started blogging a few years back. The package for Darbee was from one such friend who has a daughter close to Darbee Rae's age.  Since Darbee lives too far away to attend her birthday party, she shared goodies the guest received at Kaylee's party with Darbee.. Even the cutest p.j.'s.  Darbee had to put them on right away.

There was also a Valentine book and candy and too many more  goodies to name, and being the wonderful giving person she is our friend included a gift for Holly and myself.  We both got these sweet sheep, and a heart from an old quilt with a pocket and a little mice in it,  That mice looks almost too real for comfort.  Thank you Angie and Kaylee.  You don't know how I needed a little surprise to lift my spirits.  It couldn't have come at a better time.

Last night was date night for the Mister and myself.  We did go out to eat, but being that I am still so sore from the fall, we just came back for a quite evening at home.

We woke this morning with beautiful sunshine streaming through our bedroom windows. We went into town for breakfast and are back home now to try and do something constructive with our day.  The Mister is off to work on orders in the workshop and I will piddle in the craft room.

Wishing all of you a wonderful weekend.  Hope despite the weather you all have a warm cozy feeling in your hearts.   Until next time......
