Wow!! Catching Up and A Big Thank You to The Rusty Thimble

Good evening my friends. Hoping you are having a wonderful weekend.  It has been almost 2 weeks since we have visited.  When I last talked with you it was our anniversary and we were taking a road trip.  Thanks to each and everyone of you for the sweet comments on that post.

We had a wonderful trip.  But it rained on us the whole trip and all the way back home.  We did a lot of this.

Yes, sitting in traffic.  We usually take our trips in "off season" and are not use to the crowds.  Look in the distance.  You can hardly tell the mountains from the clouds.  Guess that's how they get their name, "The Great Smokey Mts."
I just loved this place.  I smiled everytime we passed King Kong hanging from the building.  He looked so real up there.

We did some junkin, and found a few neat treasures.

This place had a little of just about anything.  Mr. P. was in paradise going thru all that junk, treasures.

We did a lot of this

Love traveling on roads less traveled.  Such beautiful scenery.  The mister and I had some great conversations while traveling the back roads.  Sharing memories of trips in the past, making plans for the future, sharing dreams and wishes.   Yes, a wonderful trip.

When we arrived home, I had a package waiting for me.  I had won a giveaway from Brenda over at  http://therustythimble.blogspot.com/   I was so excited to receive my Patriotic Stars.  They are just prim perfect.

They have two homes.  Couldn't decide just where I like them best.  So I change them out from the little stool in front of the fireplace.... to the fireplace mantel.  Thanks so much Brenda .

Mr. P took me to Warm Springs, Ga. to dinner once we got home from our trip.  It is a wonderful restaurant called the Bullock House.  They have a Southern Buffet.  It is in a neat old house, turned restaurant.

So pretty on the inside.

And the food is delicious.  What is better than fried green tomatoes, and yes, that is deep fried chicken livers  Yumm, Yummm.

Holly had a special treat waiting for me once we were home and settled in ,,,  we went on a little adventure

She took me to a store that is owned by one of her former student's parents.  The couple was so sweet.  We shopped there although we couldn't read many on the food items

We loved the butter cookies, made like a waffle.  We will go back for more of these.

. The owner made us feel so welcome and she made us "Bubble Tea" drinks . They were delicious. We bought vegggie rolls..Really different from the Chinese ones we were use to.  You ate them with peanut sauce.  Yes, it was quite an experience for me as I am a true southern gal when it comes to food.

Another special memory shared with my girls.  Thank you Holly and Darbee Rae.

This week I have been busy working on craft items for the show in the fall,  Will be back soon and show what I have been up to in the craft room.

I hear thunder in the distance.  Sure could use a slow steady rain here at the homplace.  Hope you have a wonderful evening and a great Sunday.

Until next time......

Thirty Nine Years and Counting!!!

Just had to pop in and tell Mr. P. Happy Anniversary.  God has blessed us with 39 wonderful years together. Wait,,,, no we are not that old but were married as teenagers.  Neither set of parents thought our marriage would last.  My parents didn't think he would be good enough for me and his parents didn't think he could ever make me happy. You see our lifestyles and families were so different.

Well, I am so happy to say, we beat all odds.  Love can do that you know.  Our love has grown through the years. God blessed us with a wonderful daughter and now as you all know we are blessed to have our grandaughter Darbee Rae. Our family may be small in size but running over in love and respect for each other.

This stitchery  describes my Mister just perfectly.     It says:

My Husband

A strong arm to lean on
A strong shoulder to cry on
A patient ear to sound upon
A firm chest to rest upon
A loving heart to rely upon
And my best friend.

We have taken a little road trip to celebrate our anniversary.  Will be back soon to share our trip with you.

Until next time.......

A Winning, A Wedding, and the Week Ahead

Good Tuesday Morning my friends.  Hoping you are having a good week thus far. I had a great day yesterday.  Met Friends at the Japanese Steak house for lunch (yummy) and then spent the afternoon with Holly and Darbee Rae. With Darbee Rae that is always an adventure.  We had a tea party with M&M's and water.as she was dressed as Snow White.

Last week I was blessed to win the giveaway from Carol at Firecracker Kid Primitives. Blogger has not been kind to me lately and I almost missed my goodie as it did not show up on my home page as a post.  So if I have failed to visit with you it's because your new post are not coming through and I am not aware that a new post has been done.  Carol had contacted me but I am so slow in checking my spam mail and that is where my e-mail had gone.  But a wonderful ending anyway.  Robin from The Cranky Crow and Angie from LilRaggedy Angie were both kind enough to make me aware of the winning.  Thanks again girls for the shout out.

When I contacted Carol she was so kind and was holding my Glory Angel for me.  In the midst of no power after a violent storm she put my giveaway prize in the mail that afternoon .  She arrived to her new home a few days later.  A fisty angel she was.  She had a few days to find the perfect spot.  She went straight to the hall but decided she wasn't staying there, went to the old red cupboard to hang out, but that didn't suit her fancy either, and even wandered to the guest bath upstairs. Think is was too warm for her upstairs.  Finally she picked out a perfect spot (I think) to call her home.

She is watching over the memorial I did honoring my Daddy.  Guess she could just feel a bond since Daddy is in heaven among Angels today. She seems happy to be there .

Don't  you think she is just prim perfect?  Most of you know Carol already, but if not head over to her blog and introduce yourself.  http://firecrackerkid.blogspot.com/  You will not be disappointed.    Thanks again Carol for hosting the giveaway and for your patience in me getting back to you.

On Saturday we attended my nephews wedding. My Sister-in-law and Brother-in Law's youngest son got married to his long time girlfriend.  The wedding was so pretty and the reception was gorgeous.  We enjoyed the afternoon celebrating with this young couple as they start their life together.

Maudie and Leonard with Sara and Christopher (bride/groom) and Justin their other son who was Chris' Best Man.

The picture does not do credit to this amazing cake.  The top layers was a regular cake for the bride/groom to cut but the rest was cupcakes.  The most delicious cake I have ever eaten.

Darbee Rae feels right at home wherever she goes.  She really enjoyed herself and she took it all in.  On the way home she told me to look at her

She had saved the netting that the rose petals for throuwing were wrapped in.  She informed me she was getting married today,,, that was her veil and she would go pick up her "baby" tomorrow.  She didn't know if she would pick up a boy or girl but was hoping to get a little girl baby.  She didn't know what she would do with a boy one.  (smile).  Oh for the simplicity of a child's mind.

Well friends the mister and I are heading out this morning on a much needed road trip.  It's been awhile since we have been away and are both looking forward to a few days of fun.  So you guys have a good week and I will be back to see you all on the weekend.

Until we talk again.......

I Love This Truck

Well Friends, I hope you have all had a great day.  Did it seem like Monday all over again to you?  Sure did to me.  I guess because Mr. P was off yesterday and had to go back to work today,,,,, I had another Monday.  You know the kind of day,,, nothing seemed to go right.  I got a slow start, my sewing machine did not want to cooperate and had to give it some TLC to get it to going.  Doing laundry, cooking supper, straightening house for the weekend.  UGH!!! Not fun stuff to me.   But am thankful for the day, and now that it is winding down,,, I can see progress.

Last evening was so much fun.  Family and friends gathered at Holly and Stacy's home forr the firworks show just up the street.  My BFF Jane and her husband Ricky always come to celebrate with us.  A few years back Ricky drove by a pasture and saw this truck sitting out there abandoned.  He stopped and ask about it and that night he bought it and drove it home.

Those who know me well, know that vehiciles are not that important to me.  As long as my car/truck is reliable, and has air, then I am good to go.  But I simply fell in love with this truck from the first time I saw it. It is a 1953 International Harvester.  And is in wonderful condition.  The family he bought it from said it was the lady's daddys truck.  Ricky has done very little work to it since he purchased it.  It didn't even need a paint job.  They even had all the paperwork on it too. Was this a great find or what?

It is perfect on the inside.  Don't you just love it?  Guess when it was new, blinkers were not invented.  He did add blinkers so that driving would be easier.
Of couse back then air condition was not even an option.... So.... he had to add air so that Jane would take an occassional drive with him.

Don't ya just love that little fan.  He's a good man, knows how to keep his woman happy,, and cool!!

Naturally where there is a camera, there is always Darbee Rae.  I think she likes the truck too.  Maybe because she has seem her Nana drool over it.

Wonder how many boys she could catch if she was 16 and driving around town in this cool old truck??

Yes, this is my answer to a Primitive truck.  I told Ricky it needed to sit in my front yard.  Can't you just imagine the back full of hay, pumpkins and gourds?

A big old prim Santa sitting behind the stieering wheel at Christmas and the back loaded down with wrapped packages?

And such a pretty picture it would be full of spring flowers , easter eggs, and maybe a bunny or two?

Yes, I need this truck!!! But, I have to remember if someone would steal our goldfish from the front lawn,,, maybe it is lots safer at home with him and Jane.  Guess it don't hurt for a girl to dream though.  Yep, I dream of an old truck like that sitting out front, but for now I can enjoy theirs every now and then

And speaking of lawn decor,,,, I would also enjoy decorating this great wagon.  Holly's father-in-law built it . He had the front wheels since he was just a lad.  Never knew what he was going to do with them until he got the idea to build a wagon.  He lets Holly decorate with it on special occassions.

Well a post two days in a row,,,, I am doing great!! Hope you have enjoyed visiting.  I will leave you with a few photos of the fireworks we saw from Holly's front lawn.

Wishing you all a great Friday and a wonderful safe weekend.
Until Next time. .....

It's Hot Outside ,,, Come On In

Happy Fourth of July to all my friends.  Hoping you have a wonderful day spent with family and friends.  Be safe and keep cool.

It is a rather hot, muggy, day here in the South, but not quite as bad as earlier in the week.  We still have not gotten rain, although areas so close to us have had afternoon and evening storms with heavy rain.  Storms,,,, I don't like and my prayers are with so many of you who were hit hard by the bad weather earlier.  Hoping you have all gotten your power back by now.

You usually enter from the front door, but it's hot out and when you park, it is much closer to come in the back through the carport.  So,, come on in where it is cool and take a look around.  We can chat as we look.

Remember the chair with the stitchery from last year?  It has grown so much.  Brought it into the sunroom during the winter and it did so good.  Still one of my favorite items for outside.

While we are in the kitchen, would you like something cool to drink.  I have more of the pineapple lemonade punch.  My favorite drink thus far the summer.  Can't be without it.

Remember the posting about the craft fair where there were no prim booths?  Well I bought this rusty bed spring and it had been shaped to hang on the wall.  I wrapped the flag material around inside and added a vile to put in a flower.  My only purchase at that huge show.

Open shelf in Kitchen

One of my most treasured prim decorations.  Holly painted this Uncle Sam with me when she was not much bigger than Darbee Rae.  I can remember the day so clearly.  She was bored and I was about to go crazy trying to entertain her.(smile)    Sound familiar Hollly???

Don't think I have shared my apron with you.  When I was a mere tot an old lady at the church where Daddy pastored made it for me as a Christmas gift.  Holly and Darbee Rae have worn it also.  Yes, it is quite old, but has held up really well.  I still wear an aporn ocassionally.  Reminds me of my grandmother who wore one daily. Do you wear aprons ?

Chalkboard that I made in the hall.

This was a display I did honoring my Daddy on Memorial day and decided to leave it out for the Fourth. He was a World War Two  Veteran.  The binnoculars were his favorite past time as his health began to fail.  He would sit out in the yard and watch the birds and the people at the store down the street.  I will always miss my Daddy.

A really old song book on the piano. Although it is not in great condition, I love this book and display it proudly.  The copyright date was 1919 and it sold for 15 cents.

Cabinet in great room.

Foyer

Top of Mr. P's grandparents old flour bin.

Close up of my year round tree with the patriotic ornaments.

Top of old oak roll top desk.  The gourd was a giveaway win last year.  Just love it.  Keep it out all year.

Nothing says summer like red gerraniums.  Just love them.

The next few pictures are items on the mantle.  Did this stitchery years ago.

Saw this idea on pinterest.  Just love that site don't you?

Well friends, I could chat with you for oh so long, but I know you have plans for today as well as I.  So I guess I had better let you be on your way.  I hope you have enjoyed your visit with me today.  Please leave a note and let me know you stopped by.  Each and everyone of you are so  special to me. Wishing you a wonderful and blessed day.

Until next time.......
