What A Fun Day and a little Christmas inspiration

Good evening friends.  Yes, don't faint,,, I know after a long absence I am posting 2 days in a row.  Well, I just had to stop by and share my wonderful day with you.  When Holly and I heard our weather forecast for today we decided as it was going to be cold all day, and it was Friday, we were going to do something fun and Christmas like.  So our adventure started rather early this morning.  And believe me it was COLD.

Holly, Darbee Rae and I were heading to the big city and going to ride The Pink Pig.  For those of you who are not familiar with the "Pig" it is a tradition for most of us around and about Atlanta. It debuted in the 1950's as a holiday ride at our Rich's in downtown Atlanta.  It has since changed locations and is now at Macy's at Lenox  Square Mall. Portions of the proceeds from the ticket sales goes to benefit Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.

Although it has been in existence for many years, I had never rode the pig.  Holly did as a child and she and Darbee Rae have ridden it many times.  Darbee was so excited to have her Mommy and me ride with her.  Yes, it was magical and I felt like a child again. Seeing things through the eyes of a child. Nothing better to get you in the mood for the holiday.

Don't you just love the look??

We had so much fun and now I can say I too have rode Priscilla the Pink Pig.  We were so excited to then shop in the mall.  I had never shopped in a Pottery Barn although I have looked through their catalog many times.  Oh my,,,,,, I was so blown away .  Thought I would share some of the tablescapes with you,.  They were beautiful.

Of course Darbee Rae had to shop in Pottery Barn Kids.  Yes, her Christmas list is growing fast!!

Don't you just love the bedroom setting.  I could see myself with a room like this.

We shopped several other places and found a few goodies I am excited about.  Will share those in a different post a little later.  Caught Holly looking through a journal neither of us could do without.

Loved this old bottle display in one of the shops.

Do you know shopping can make one hungry? Mr. P,. nor myself drive downtown Atlanta.  Traffic is awful but luckily it doesn't bother Holly.  I had always heard of a rather famous restaurant downtown called Mary Mac's Tea Room.  So that is where we chose to have lunch,.  I was not disappointed.  The food was delicious.

Last on our list was a trip to Ikea.  Can't go downtown without swinging by there.  But today I was on a mission for drawer pulls.  {Hint,Hint}  Remember there are a few changes going on at the home place.  Will share some soon I promise.

Can you see why I had a wonderful day?  Don't you just love the holiday season?  I even bought some" prim" wrapping paper to wrap the gifts I have bought already!!

This time last year I was a very sick lady.  I can't end this blog without saying how much better I feel this year over last.  With November being a time of thanksgiving I have to say I am so thankful for my health.  I give thanks daily for all the prayers that were answered on my behalf, for the love and support of my family and for all my friends who were so wonderful and so concerned . All of you are so special to me whether we have met personally or you are a far away blogging friend.

In closing , for some reason I am not getting all the notifications on my email when you respond to a post.  If I personally do not reply to you, then that is why.  I don't know how to correct the problem.  I get some, and others I don't.  Please know I read everyone and thank you for stopping by.

Until next time.

Thankful Thursday...Come meet an Amazing Lady

Such a cool wonderful morning here at the home place.  My trees are up, Christmas music is playing, fire going, and I am anticipating a  p.j. day full of decorating.  The mister is working overtime and I have a long day to play house.

But first, I want to introduce you to some one who has become very special to myself and our family.  As most of you know, my Mother spent the last 5 years of her life in a nursing facility.  She was unable to walk and was completely blind.  Many of you have experienced having to resort to a place like this for your companion or family member and you know first hand it is not an easy transition for yourself as well as the family.  At the nursing home we met this wonderful woman.  She was so kind to my mother and to all of us as we visited with her.   Evenings when I knew she was working I could go to bed and go to sleep just knowing she was there.  I am sure Mother tried her patience at times as she was not the easiest person to get along with.  But Mother was fond of Lynn,.

Lynn has been in the nursing field for 40 years and is now counting the days until retirement and a big move to Florida to be close to family.  As November is a month to be thankful, I just felt the need to give Lynn a big thank you for always being there for Mother and for our family.  How ironic is it that she is now a nurse on many evenings to Mr. P.'s Mother  that has since entered into the same facility,

Lynn has attended Darbee's celebrations, visited with us on occasion and even became an instructor yesterday  as we had a craft day at Holly's.

She has followed along with Darbee Rae as she was only 4 days old when we first took her to the nursing home to visit with Mother.  Hmmm,,, just noticed they even have the same hair color. {smile}

Lynn came over to show Holly and me how to make the ever so popular mesh wreaths.  What a sweet lady to spend her day of work with us.

Holly did such a good job on hers don't you think?

I think my wreath  turned out really cute too. My mind is already churning on how to make a prim one maybe out of burlap???

Of course Darbee Rae had to do a craft too, so she made garland out of pipe stems to use as part of her Christmas décor.

Time passed by so fast as we were having fun.  Soon our day came to an end.  I just want to thank you Lynn for being such a wonderful friend to our family.  And thank you God for sending an Angel to us when we needed one the most.

As I stated in my last post, we are making a few changes here at the home place.   Slowly things are coming together.  I promise to share a few pics. with you on my next post.  Mr. P's work schedule has really slowed down things on the home front because he is my all around handyman.  But am thankful for him and his job.  So......

Wishing all of you a wonderful Thursday and don't forget there is always something and some one to be thankful for.
Until next time......
