Yesterday was the coldest day of winter thus far. Our morning lows were in the teens. Did I stay inside where the fireplace would keep me warm and cozy and enjoy the day sewing or creating? Of course not. Holly had two more days before going back to school so... five of us loaded up and went to Atlanta shopping. That has got to be the coldest city in Ga. and the winds were fierce. Walking between those tall skyscrapers had there been snowflakes wetting our faces (no snow) and Christmas music playing (no music) it would have been perfect. I know, I am wierd like that but I so LOVE cold temps.
One of the stores we visited was IKEA. You will not find anything prim in the store, but they have wonderful storage units, boxes, etc, and I just love to go look at the rooms they have decorated and on display. Saw this quote and thought it was right neat
They have wonderful homemade cinnamon rolls too. They smell so yummy when you enter the store from the windy cold weather. We found lots of goodies and were right proud we battled the cold temps.
After a full day of shopping we ate an early supper at one of Atlanta's famous landmarks, The Varsity. This is a cute picture I caught of Darbee's back sitting at the table eating. Look at the static in her hair, it was plastered to the back of her seat. Can you tell how windy it was? We all were getting shocked everytime we touched something.
We all had a great time, but I was so proud to get home and get into my flannels and snuggle in front of the fire with a hot cup of coffee. Yes, all is well and good here at the homeplace. Sure hope you can all say the same.
Hope you are all having a Wonderful Wednesday.
Until next time
Now that is some static~giggles~ sounds like a fun day~

Hi Angela,
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a wonderful day in Atlanta. Last time I was there...was 18 years ago on vacation.
I love IKEA...looking at all their rooms they have set-up is so much fun. We got a cupboard there for our dining room and a console table with baskets for the living room. They look great with my prim decor, because I got the black finish with the brown wood showing through in places. The IKEA here in Ohio has a farmhouse sink that I would love to have in my kitchen.
I've been staying inside with my 2 cute little doggies. Yesterday...watching the snow come down and today...Well, it is just too cold to want to go outside.
hugs,
Cindy
Afternoon Angela,

Angela, Sounds like you had a wonderful time in Atlanta. I've been to that IKEA and the one that opened near us. They do have nice storage stuff.
ReplyDeleteI did find a grill pan which I really like. I remember how the wind whips around tall buildings having lived and worked in NYC. With the cold here now, I wish I had a fireplace.
Ellie
Brr! I could feel the coldness and glad you made it back to the warm fireplace, hehe. Sounds like you all had a great time. I'll agree with you, it would have been more fun with snowflakes and Christmas music. =] I've not been to an Ikea store but I have seen lots of wonderful pieces from there.
ReplyDeleteHave a grand week~
Some hair, she's amazing, no matter what you tell us! Glad you had a great trip out!
ReplyDeleteHow funny! Glad you had a great day. You know, I have never been in downtown Atlanta, except in a car.lol I love going through there at night, seeing the lights and awing at the tall buildings. It has been so cold here, but to be back in the 50's tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a wonderful day, even if it was cold. I would go shopping in Atlanta no matter what kind of weather. Cute picture of Darbee's hair.

Going to an Ikea store is on my bucket list....the nearest one is in Milwaukee which is about 4 hours away. Boo Hoo. Sounds like a fun day....I think I'm in need of a good "girls' shopping trip" one of these days...but yikes, I'll have to round up some "girls" and some place to shop first! Wishing you a blessing-filled week ahead....Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin
