About Me

My photo
I have been married to my childhood sweetheart for 42 wonderful years. I have been blessed with one daughter who is grown and gone! She and her hubby have blessed us with a precious grandchild, Darbee Rae. She is eight years old and the sunshine in our days. I have always been a stay at home maid, cook, doctor, babysitter, taxi, wife, mother, and grandmother. I enjoy crafting. My interests include primitives, vintage and colonial styles. I love decorating my home. I enjoy traveling with my hubby and friends, reading, and trying different recipes. I am a Christian and enjoy activities within my church. I hope you enjoy reading about my daily adventures in crafting, shopping, and enjoying life thru the eyes of my darling grand daughter.

The Holiday That Wouldn't End!!

Hello Everyone.  Hope you have had a wonderful week thus far.  It seems time is going by so swiftly,. When we last chatted it was Labor Day and I was so excited that the three day craft show was over and a wonderful success.  So today I will try and play catch up on all my coming and goings since then.

The very next day the Mister and I left out for our annual trip to Berlin, Ohio.  We drove to Piegon Forge, TN. did a little shopping in the outlet stores and I visited the few prim shops there and went to The Pattern Hutch for some wool felt and to search out some patterns.

On Wednesday we arrived in Berlin, Ohio

We just love Amish Country.  I so love reading stories about these amazing people and riding thru the countryside and viewing their farms and homes.

Some of the best photos were of the children in their yards playing, or with their parents going into town.  But I respected them and did not take a picture.

We did pass a few schools in the countryside and with the zoom I captured these few shots.

Enjoying recess the old fashioned way.  Playing ball and swinging.

We did lots of shopping while we were gone and I found a few items that just had to come home with me.  I will show you in my next post I promise.

While we were roaming, we visited Orriville, Ohio.  There was an Antique Mall there I wanted to visit and we went to the Smucker's Store.

It was such a beautiful place and I loved shopping there.  You could find almost any kind of jellies, syrups,,, and all kind of goodies.

After a week on the road we came home , rested for 2 days and then did something we had never done before.  You all know Holly lives about 6 miles from us and we are together all the time.  But her hubby had gone out of town for 3 nights on a guy's trip to a car show, so Nana and Papa went and stayed over with them for 2 of the 3 nights.  Fun?? You betcha .  We played our selves out with a very excited Darbee Rae.

On Saturday , we were invited to an End of Summer cookout at some friends of ours from church.

Darbee Rae had fun playing corn hole.  The food and fellowship was wonderful.  Thank you Gail and Marshal for a wonderful afternoon.

So,,,, Have tried to get back in the groove of things this week, and let me tell you it has been kind of hard to do. On Tuesday evening our WMU  from church had our annual cook out at the park.  All the fun started early and I forgot to take pictures.  So much good food and fellowship there as well.

I have my crates of fall decor out and am trying to play catch up with so many of you.  Have enjoyed visiting your blogs and seeing all your pretty houses.  You kinda making me feel bad, so with the cooler temps here for a spell I am going to be busy. Hoping I can prove "Less is more" in my decorating for this season!!

Before I leave you tonight, I ask all of you who pray to send up a special  prayer for a dear friend of mine from church.  She is in critical condition tonight. She has fought a never ending battle with health issues for many years. She is so special to me and to all who know her.  We ask she not suffer and for God's will to be done.  Also prayers for her daughter who has been a rock for her through her sickness.

Well, I have bored you long enough my friends.  Hoping you are all looking forward to a wonderful fall weekend,.  Until next time.....

  5. Good to hear from you Angela....you sound like one busy soul....At least it's a good and happy busy. Bet Darbee was tickled to pieces having you and Mr. P "spend the night".....What fun. No vacations or holidays here....alas, no social get-togethers even....and I fear, frightfully little holiday decorating as well. It's a bit of a rough patch these days.... Will certainly include your friend and her her family in my prayers. Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin

  16. Can't wait to see your goodies! What fun spending the night with your girls. When the kids are in town, I go to Debs and spend the night so we can play games. Just got back from SeaGrove Beach and I am worn out. More later.
