About Me

My photo
I have been married to my childhood sweetheart for 42 wonderful years. I have been blessed with one daughter who is grown and gone! She and her hubby have blessed us with a precious grandchild, Darbee Rae. She is eight years old and the sunshine in our days. I have always been a stay at home maid, cook, doctor, babysitter, taxi, wife, mother, and grandmother. I enjoy crafting. My interests include primitives, vintage and colonial styles. I love decorating my home. I enjoy traveling with my hubby and friends, reading, and trying different recipes. I am a Christian and enjoy activities within my church. I hope you enjoy reading about my daily adventures in crafting, shopping, and enjoying life thru the eyes of my darling grand daughter.

Please Come Meet Jethro

Happy  October everyone.  Fall is officially here and with it come all the activities I enjoy so much.  Football, parades, cooler weather, and birthdays.  Yes almost all our family have birthdays this month so there will be lots of celebrations.  Hope you are beginning to move at a slower pace with summer behinds us and are enjoying the comforts of fall.

I was so excited and honored to be the winner of Tammy's Scarecrow giveaway last week.  Her blog is  http://aprimitiveplace.blogspot.com/   She has a beautiful home and does such cute creations.  If you haven't already, please stop by and say hi.  Tammy is such a sweet person and I am sure she would be glad to meet you.

I was  already beginning my fall decorating when I found I had won the scarecrow, but I wanted his arrival to be so special so decided to spruce up out back.  Well,,, to come in the back would have been an insult to this fellow.  No way!  He had the mail lady deliver him to the front door.  Maybe this  should have been a warning flag out to me, but I was so excited to meet him, I didn't care which door he came to.  Well... without further ado......Meet Jethro!!

Now isn't he just too cute?  Well, let me tell you, Jethro's looks are deceiving.
Maybe he had to travel a bit too far to reach his destination, but he had an attitude when he got out of his suitcase   box.  He wanted to show me HE was going to be boss for awhile.  Immediately he jumped into the wagon on the porch.

From there he decided to climb up on the ladder.

He even jumped into the door box on the front door.  I should have known he was going to be a
" pill."
But I was just so in love with him.  He is just to stinking cute!!

Finally, I coaxed him into coming inside.  I wanted him to meet a few more scarecrows who were less roughty.  I was thinking ,, hmmm,,, I have got to take control of this fellow right away.

He is checking out Stalks hanging on the back door.  Had he arrived through the back, Stalks would have greeted him.  Now he looks like Jethro is a bother.  Maybe his scarecrow instinct had already kicked in.  Or is it a look of Panic??  {hehe}

He climbed up on top of  Miss Maggie all decked out in her witch costume.  BUT,,, the first try to get up there was not a success.  Look at the mess he made when he fell off.

He broke the cupcake cover for that sweet little Halloween cupcake.  Yes, I corrected him, but did I get mad?  How could I?  He is just too adorable.  And all he was trying to do was find himself.  After all he had traveled a long way, was missing Mama Tammy and her beautiful home so I just continued to follow him around hoping he would soon settle down.

On the mantle he checked out Mr..Clampett.  I think they had a long talk.  After all Mr. Clampett is the oldest of scarecrows here at the home place.  He has been known to watch over everyone that come out of hiding this time of year.  He spent a while up there with him, and then to my surprise came to rest close to my place of the sofa.

He decided to sit close on the end table beside where I sit.  I am so pleased that he has finally calmed down and is doing great here at the home place.  Everyone who has seen him have fallen in love with him and I think he is truly enjoying all the compliments.  Shhhh.... don't tell him, but in this spot, I can keep an eye on him...  Thanks again Tammy.  Without him life would have been dull here last week at the home place.

I promised I would share with you a few things I got on my trip to Ohio.  Well my favorite purchases were two lamps.  I had been wanting new ones for the end tables in the great room.  I am so proud of them.

The shade is the same red as the bottom.  Don't know why it showed up different in the picture.

This is my favorite one.
It cast a shadow on the wall behind it.  Had I found it before I bought the smaller one, I would have gotten 2 of these.   Guess Jethro has good taste also.  Because right beside this lamp next to the pumpkin is where he made his home.

Well there is a breeze blowing in a storm outside and the rain is falling softly on the windows.  Thinking about a good book and some time in the reading chair in the sun room.  Sending wishes to all of you for a wonderful week.  Thanks for stopping by.  Please say hello so I will know you visited.

Hugs until next time......
