About Me

My photo
I have been married to my childhood sweetheart for 42 wonderful years. I have been blessed with one daughter who is grown and gone! She and her hubby have blessed us with a precious grandchild, Darbee Rae. She is eight years old and the sunshine in our days. I have always been a stay at home maid, cook, doctor, babysitter, taxi, wife, mother, and grandmother. I enjoy crafting. My interests include primitives, vintage and colonial styles. I love decorating my home. I enjoy traveling with my hubby and friends, reading, and trying different recipes. I am a Christian and enjoy activities within my church. I hope you enjoy reading about my daily adventures in crafting, shopping, and enjoying life thru the eyes of my darling grand daughter.

Catching Up: Company,Crafting,,Car, Cookies

First let me wish all of you a  Belated  Happy Thanksgiving,.  Hoping you all had a wonderful day and memories were made in whatever way you chose to celebrate. Mr. P made it our tradition years ago to eat out on this day.  It was just the mister and myself as Holly and her family normally eat with Stacy's family but with his Dad being ill, they joined us.for dinner this year. I am so sorry to say, his Dad passed away on Saturday morning, so please keep their family in your prayers.  . Seems lots of other families had the same idea as we did. The rockers on the porch were full as well as the benches out front. It was packed but the wait went rather quickly.

Darbee Rae is entertaining anywhere she goes.  Having a great time outside talking to everyone was so much fun to her.  Actually was nice for all of us.  Ran upon some family members we don't see too often and a few friends and visited with them waiting on our table.   Caught Darbee Rae here under the tree. Sorry about the poor qualitiy of the pictures. It was a bright sunny day and I didn't have my good camera with me.

Ended the evening with supper at Kathy's.  Since my parents are gone, Kathy's home has become like going home again.  Enjoyed the evening with her and her family and she can cook some "mean"  collards.  YumYum!!

My reason for being away a little too long in blog land.  Since Holly's FIL's illness, my girls have spent many nights here with us as Stacy doesn't want them to stay home since they were broken into a while back.  And that was just fine with us.  Since Darbee Rae won't spend the night   here alone,,, I have been blessed to have them both here at  night some.  I am just so sorry for the situation that prompted this to happen.  So my evenings when normally I would have been visiting with you all,,, I have been playing!!!

On November the 9th, my longtime friend Dimple and her husband came in for the weekend from TN.  We had not seen each other since February.  We had so much catching up to do.  Our men stopped to catch up in the kitchen and we started right where we left off many months ago in the great room.

I had a new sofa ordered and I had began to sweat.  Was suppose to be delivered on Friday and it literally arrived less than 2 hours before they did.  No it's not a Johnson Bench works, I can still dream of that, but it does match the settee and chairs I have in the great room.  And it sits good. Hard to tell from this photo but it is a deep red/wine color.

Mr. P and I don't have recliners, so he sits on one end of the sofa and I on the other.  We can wear out some sofas.  But not this weekend.  Dimple and I sat on the sofa ALL day Saturday in our P.J's , worked on crafts and talked.  What wonderful husbands we both have as they brought in our breakfast, and our supper.  Could be whu there is no picture of the two of us.  Now really, NOT in our p.j.'s.

I love the cross stitch pin keeps and pillow tucks and about a year ago tried my hand at it.  Just couldn't make myself sit and count those little blocks.  But guess what?  Dimple showed me the easy way to find the center, etc. and I have finished up 2 little pillows since she left to go home.  Thank you Dimple.  Yes, that's what friends do.  We shared patterns, ideas, ate, talked, ate, and talked some more. Don't look too closely as I am sure there are mistakes, but I am so proud of my first very first finished project.  It was a free pattern from the Internet that I had saved on file forever.  I can't give credit as I do not know where I found it so long ago. If it is yours let me say Thank you.

Look at my prim clipboard.  Don't you just love it?  Dimple had one and of course let Mr. P get the pattern.  He has made Holly and me one and I love it.  She liked my blanket crane so Mr. P. gave her one he had made.

Here is a brighter picture.

I had this brown paper that went great with it.  Bought it out of town a long time ago.  If anyone knows where on line I can find more, please let me know.

On Tuesday our WMU group at church did a cookie swap.  It was a first for our group.  Some of the older ladies had never heard of one.  I am glad to say it was a success and really a fun time.   I did the Heath Bar Macadamia Nut  Cookies.  Do you know the nuts were  $ 9.99 a can at the grocery store?  But they are so good to me.  Worth the price. Had good intentions of showing you a pic. of my cookies.,,,,, but  SOMEONE enjoyed them before I got a picture.  Hmmmmm, not Mr.P.???? Let me know if you would like the recipe and I will share with you.

And finally a pic of my new ride.  Bet you all thought that was why I have been missing huh?  Riding around in that car.  Well, no. Really haven't had time to even drive it that much.  The mister and I did take it for a drive on the interstate on Wednesday and did a little junking.  Just so thankful to have a dependable ride again.  Nothing fancy, but dependable.  So thankful the hunt is over .  I so hate car shopping.

It is a silver Ford Escape.  Reminds me of my Saturn VUE but the Saturn was RED,  Can't get use to spotting this one in a parking lot.  Lots of silver SUV's out there on the road!

Well I have bored you enough, but hopefully caught you up on my ramblings. .  Christmas decor is almost done and we are looking forward to the holidays.  Wishing all of you a wonderful Sunday and hope to be visiting with you soon.

Hugs and blessings to you all.  Until next time
