About Me

My photo
I have been married to my childhood sweetheart for 42 wonderful years. I have been blessed with one daughter who is grown and gone! She and her hubby have blessed us with a precious grandchild, Darbee Rae. She is eight years old and the sunshine in our days. I have always been a stay at home maid, cook, doctor, babysitter, taxi, wife, mother, and grandmother. I enjoy crafting. My interests include primitives, vintage and colonial styles. I love decorating my home. I enjoy traveling with my hubby and friends, reading, and trying different recipes. I am a Christian and enjoy activities within my church. I hope you enjoy reading about my daily adventures in crafting, shopping, and enjoying life thru the eyes of my darling grand daughter.

Decorating for the Holidays

Good evening everyone.  Hope this post finds you all doing great.  Wow, this has been a pretty rough week in some parts of the U.S. with all the storms and tornados.  My heart goes out to all who have been touched by these storms especially in Oklahoma.  My prayers are with you all. Sometime it takes a disaster somewhere for us to be reminded of just how blessed we are.  We have our family still, a roof over our heads, and a place to call home.  I can still hug my granddaughter and tell my family how much I love them.  Yes, I am blessed.

Do you all have big plans for the holiday weekend? I remember back when,,,,, we would open up the pool on this weekend.  I would be so excited. We would have a  big cook out and lounge around the pool all weekend. Time and age sure changes things.  We have long ago gotten rid of the pool, and this weekend will be spent quietly around the home place.  Maybe a cook out with the family at some point.

I have however gotten most of my Americana decor out  so thought before all of you got busy this weekend I would share a few pictures.   So sit back, and hope you don't get bored.

Well better stop here for this evening.  Later in the summer will share the sun room and maybe a few outside pictures.  Hoping all of you have a wonderful weekend, stay safe, and give those you love a hug.

Until next time.....

  5. Angela, You amaze me...with all of your wonderful decorating! Each picture looks so put together and thought out.

It is true . When I was young, we always went to the lake to Grandma and Grandpa's cottage for the greatest weekend ever! That was when all the men rolled the dock into the water and launched the boat ...which was called the "suejill"...after me and my cousin whose name was Jill. But you are right ...things change. My daughter said to come to their cottage at a different lake but I bought so many flowers to plant this weekend...but we probably will go on Sunday and Monday.

I love coming to your blog and seeing all of your decorating. And I must mention...my daughter and I have talked about our Faye Henry many times, too. Isn't she the best?

God bless, Angela and have a wonderful weekend.

  6. We no longer have our pool either and it does change things. I miss the day of kids filling the house but time goes on and things change and kids move away. Have a good weekend. Dianntha

  13. Oh darling it all looks wonderful and patriotic. Tim and I are just like you all. Been through the pools, picnics, cookouts, etc. etc. Now we're all pooped out in our older age. I'm sure we'll strike up the grill though this weekend.
Yes, we've been overwhelmed by the devastating weather. Not to mention the terrorism going on across the world. We just keep praying. Yes, we are extremely thankful for what we have and yet we know it could all disappear at any moment.
    Keeping the faith,
    Carol
