About Me

My photo
I have been married to my childhood sweetheart for 42 wonderful years. I have been blessed with one daughter who is grown and gone! She and her hubby have blessed us with a precious grandchild, Darbee Rae. She is eight years old and the sunshine in our days. I have always been a stay at home maid, cook, doctor, babysitter, taxi, wife, mother, and grandmother. I enjoy crafting. My interests include primitives, vintage and colonial styles. I love decorating my home. I enjoy traveling with my hubby and friends, reading, and trying different recipes. I am a Christian and enjoy activities within my church. I hope you enjoy reading about my daily adventures in crafting, shopping, and enjoying life thru the eyes of my darling grand daughter.

Thankful Thursday...Come meet an Amazing Lady

Such a cool wonderful morning here at the home place.  My trees are up, Christmas music is playing, fire going, and I am anticipating a  p.j. day full of decorating.  The mister is working overtime and I have a long day to play house.

But first, I want to introduce you to some one who has become very special to myself and our family.  As most of you know, my Mother spent the last 5 years of her life in a nursing facility.  She was unable to walk and was completely blind.  Many of you have experienced having to resort to a place like this for your companion or family member and you know first hand it is not an easy transition for yourself as well as the family.  At the nursing home we met this wonderful woman.  She was so kind to my mother and to all of us as we visited with her.   Evenings when I knew she was working I could go to bed and go to sleep just knowing she was there.  I am sure Mother tried her patience at times as she was not the easiest person to get along with.  But Mother was fond of Lynn,.

Lynn has been in the nursing field for 40 years and is now counting the days until retirement and a big move to Florida to be close to family.  As November is a month to be thankful, I just felt the need to give Lynn a big thank you for always being there for Mother and for our family.  How ironic is it that she is now a nurse on many evenings to Mr. P.'s Mother  that has since entered into the same facility,

Lynn has attended Darbee's celebrations, visited with us on occasion and even became an instructor yesterday  as we had a craft day at Holly's.

She has followed along with Darbee Rae as she was only 4 days old when we first took her to the nursing home to visit with Mother.  Hmmm,,, just noticed they even have the same hair color. {smile}

Lynn came over to show Holly and me how to make the ever so popular mesh wreaths.  What a sweet lady to spend her day of work with us.

Holly did such a good job on hers don't you think?

I think my wreath  turned out really cute too. My mind is already churning on how to make a prim one maybe out of burlap???

Of course Darbee Rae had to do a craft too, so she made garland out of pipe stems to use as part of her Christmas décor.

Time passed by so fast as we were having fun.  Soon our day came to an end.  I just want to thank you Lynn for being such a wonderful friend to our family.  And thank you God for sending an Angel to us when we needed one the most.

As I stated in my last post, we are making a few changes here at the home place.   Slowly things are coming together.  I promise to share a few pics. with you on my next post.  Mr. P's work schedule has really slowed down things on the home front because he is my all around handyman.  But am thankful for him and his job.  So......

Wishing all of you a wonderful Thursday and don't forget there is always something and some one to be thankful for.
Until next time......

  1. How wonderful to have had someone like Lynn there to help take care of your mother. What a gift to you and your family to have that peace of mind knowing she was well taken care of and now to have that life long friendship! Looks like you had a great time making wreaths and Darbee Rae did a great job on her garland!

  2. Hi Angela
What a special lady Lynn is. I commend all the wonderful people in the nursing field and especially those who care for the very special people in the nursing homes. They give the family a sense of security when they are dedicated like Lynn is.
What a great fun day with her and family.
    Darby sure is getting big.
    Blessings

  3. Bless her heart! We too had that one special person who took care of Curtis. To work in a facility for adults is a calling. Thank God for people like Lynn. I cannot wait to see pictures of all the goings on. I don't have Christmas done(or even started) Tomorrow!
