About Me

My photo
I have been married to my childhood sweetheart for 42 wonderful years. I have been blessed with one daughter who is grown and gone! She and her hubby have blessed us with a precious grandchild, Darbee Rae. She is eight years old and the sunshine in our days. I have always been a stay at home maid, cook, doctor, babysitter, taxi, wife, mother, and grandmother. I enjoy crafting. My interests include primitives, vintage and colonial styles. I love decorating my home. I enjoy traveling with my hubby and friends, reading, and trying different recipes. I am a Christian and enjoy activities within my church. I hope you enjoy reading about my daily adventures in crafting, shopping, and enjoying life thru the eyes of my darling grand daughter.

Friends

Hello friends.  Hope your week has gotten off to a great start.  Here at the home place things couldn't be much better. And for that reason I chose to visit with you again so soon.

Today has been a wonderful day as I was in the midst of  some great friends.  We have been slack about getting together as life has been busy for us all, however we all made time to come together today here at the home place for lunch.  You have met all of the ladies before so no introduction is needed  We have cried, laughed, shared secrets, and have eaten more hot wings together than even I like to admit.  Good friends are hard to come by these days, and I count my blessings to have them in my life.

Lynn is one of the newest friends to join in our little gatherings.  As you remember I did a post about this special lady a while back.  We became friends 7 years ago when Mother was admitted into the nursing home.  This lady was such a special nurse to my Mother.  I am sure it wasn't an easy job sometime as Mother could get rowdy.
.  Today was bittersweet for us because Lynn has retired after over 40 years in the nursing field and is moving to Florida.  She won't be with us on our outings but we will definitely keep in touch.  I am so thankful that God saw fit for our paths to cross.  She will never be forgotten.  She means so much to our family. This picture was taken at Christmas last year when we were having a craft day together

There is always enough food to feed an army.  I tried a new recipe for chicken salad and you used puff pastry sheets.  They turned out so cute and were supper easy and good as well.

I also made a pasta salad, grape salad, and garbage bread. It don't look great, but is delicious.

Can't be a southern feast without home made tea cakes.  There was also cupcakes that were delicious.

And the list of food continues,,,Fried chicken, okra, potato salad, deviled eggs, sub sandwiches ,and sausage appetizers.  Have I  made you hungry yet?? You just never know what all these ladies are bringing when we spend the afternoon together. We have lunch, the congregate in the great room, and talk and then later, we all snack again. Why not just make a day of it, and we do!!  There was plenty left over , wish you all had some.  Mr. P. ate good when he came in this evening.

I am so thankful that we have a home where everyone can come and feel right at home and have a good time together.  There is nothing like having friends that you feel closer to than some family.  I love all these ladies and my girls so much.

I will leave you tonight with a few silly photos from today.  Darbee Rae found the perfect spot in the floor by the door to do her thing.  Guess she got tired of all our "old folk" gossip.

Trying out her new selfie stick

Don't know what I would do without this precious daughter of mine.  God has surely blessed Mr. P. and I with a wonderful daughter and Mommy to Darbee Rae.  Love you Holly.

Hope you all have a wonderful week.  Take time to call a friend and maybe get together for lunch, a shopping trip or go junking.  You never know what it might mean to someone and it will make for a great day!!

Until next time.
