About Me

My photo
I have been married to my childhood sweetheart for 42 wonderful years. I have been blessed with one daughter who is grown and gone! She and her hubby have blessed us with a precious grandchild, Darbee Rae. She is eight years old and the sunshine in our days. I have always been a stay at home maid, cook, doctor, babysitter, taxi, wife, mother, and grandmother. I enjoy crafting. My interests include primitives, vintage and colonial styles. I love decorating my home. I enjoy traveling with my hubby and friends, reading, and trying different recipes. I am a Christian and enjoy activities within my church. I hope you enjoy reading about my daily adventures in crafting, shopping, and enjoying life thru the eyes of my darling grand daughter.

Please Meet Miss Maggie

Hi Everyone.  Hope you have had a great day and made someone smile along your way. I spent the day with Holly and Darbee Rae just roaming and searching for junk.  Didn't score on the junk part. In fact, lunch was about the best purchase of the day.  Had fun anyway and made it back home before more rain and thunderstorms arrived.

Let me introduce you to Miss Maggie.  She has been a permanent resident in our home now for over 30 years.  We found her in an old cotton mill turned flea market and antique store many moons ago while our roaming.  Yep, been junkin  that long. She was way back in the back of the area that was roped off.  I immediately fell in love with her. And lucky for me, she came home with us that day.  She stood guard for many years in our master bedroom. I really think she brought good luck to our marriage as we have been married almost 38 years. She wore my wedding dress.
Yep, if you look close it has aged a bit so I removed it and stored it away quite sometime ago.  After all we all age some after 37 years right? When Mr. P. remodeled my craft room, Miss Maggie moved up there to spend time with me while I work.  She has become my best friend.  IF SHE COULD TALK, boy would I be in trouble.  She hears me complain when I am not feeling well, she hears me sware, fuss when I make a stupid mistake, and she is there to share in my happiness when if I get something to go my way. She dresses for the occassion.
She wears a scarf from my coffee stained cheesecloth most days when we have nothing special going on.  A good place to store it and Miss Maggie doesn't mind if I borrow some to use on a project.
Now mind you Miss Maggie is a very trendy  lady.  The day of the Royal Wedding, an old cheescloth scarf wasn't the proper attire , so she had to spruce up a bit. Who could watch all the news coverage and not have on a hat?  Afterall she is a Southern Lady.
Don't you just love the old vintage hat?  The broche was my grandmother's.  Actually, my grandmother was the inspiration behind the name I picked out for Miss Maggie.  That was my grandmother's name.  And in honor of my grandmother , some days she just loves to wear my grandmothers old pins.
My "Mama" was a  Southern Belle from head to foot, and she loved to dress up.  She loved her hats, gloves and her pins.  Here are just a few. Yes and she did love color.  She lived to be 95 years old and was such an inspiration in my life.  I feel like I learned so much from her and inherited her love of her home and family.
Notice the date on the bottom.  Miss Maggie is beginning to show her age also.  She has stood by and listened patiently to me over the years.  In good times and bad, she has stood tall and is always there when I need her.  Even if it is just to hold a pattern or a note or a swatch of fabric.  I can truly depend on Miss Maggie to never let me down.
Hoping you all can say you have a "Miss Maggie" in your life.  I really enjoy your visits and hoping you stop by again soon.

I know I will enjoy coming back to visit often. I think I made #87 follower, so it won't be long before you hit triple digits!
    Happy Mother's Day to you,
