Pillow Talk

Happy Happy Friday to all my friends.  Do you have plans for a wonderful weekend?  Well junkin' was on my list this morning, but woke to a cool, cloudy, rainy day so decided to stay in and just be lazy.  Not too hard for me to do!(lol) Tomorrow there is a small craft fair we will venture out to but there are never prim booths there.  But one can hope that will change and I might pick up a goodie or two.

Today I have a question for you?  Do you HATE to buy bed pillows?  Well the mister and myself had no choice as ours were getting pretty old and worn out.  So with my better half in tow, we went out shopping for comfy pillows.  Yep, he had to come along on this shopping trip, because I did not want to hear complaints if I bought the wrong feeling pillow.

Now I don't know about you, but I really get attatched to my pillow. Many nights when all is dark and quite, I have layed my head on that pillow , wide awake mind you and cried as I thought of my Daddy when we knew his time was near, and again when he was no longer a daily part of my life.  Many years later as Mother grew older and left me also, my pillow held my head as I cried.  I have communicated with my Maker and poured my heart out to him in the stillness of the night.  He gave me peace in the wee hours of the morning.  That pillow was a welcome sight after many long hours at the hospital awaiting the birth of Darbee Rae,  and held my head as I finally layed  down for a quick nap before going right back to see my grandbaby again. Coming home after many road trips and finally crawling into MY bed, nothing felt better than that pillow.  Oh,, and the dreams that have been dreamed as I slept so soundly on that wonderful soft rectangle form.  Yes, I could go on and on,,, but after a long search,,,, we have new bed pillows.

I have to admit, they are awesome.  We made a good choice.  Now you  might wonder what I did with  my old pillows.  Usually they are recycled and go on the porch as throws for the furniture out there.  But this time they will be used for something quite different.

Stuffing!!! Those old pillows  gave me pounds and pounds of stuffing.  Great stuffing.  Just like the old Morning Glory.  The pillows had a coating of something  on them to hold the shape.  I just cut the thin layer of that away, and now I have lots of stuffing.   All I have to do is get busy and put it to use.

So, if you don't already, before you trash an old pillow, check inside.  There may be a treasure of stuffing waiting to be used on all of our prim goodies.

Well, enjoyed chatting with you today.  Fridays are Mr. P and my date night.  So,,, gota run and get ready for an afternoon out to eat and maybe some shopping.  Sounds like fun, ugh?  Have a wonderful weekend whatever your plans may be, and stay safe.  We will talk again soon.....

  1. We are very particular about our pillows--no WalMart pillows here. I loved being at Angie's and I was exhausted every night so I slept easily, but I was sure glad to see my bed and my pillow! We go to the same store when we need new pillows--would rather pay more and get better. I love to hug my hubby's pillow and breathe in his smells.
And I have been using pillow stuffing for some time. They are an awesome resource!
Good luck at the craft fair!!!

  2. I always buy the salvation army ones for the stuffing ONLY, cheaper then a bag and get more of it.

  3. Hi, Angela~ what a wonderful take on pillows~ never thought about it that way, you made me realize why I need my certain pillow( won't tell you how old & raggedy it is, giggles)
have a great date night & weekend
P.S. Your Darbee is so precious, just loved Holly's last post, inspiration!

  4. Well, your title threw me!lol Didn't know what secrets we were going to hear. Just kiddin'. Deb takes her pillow with her when she goes somewhere. Pillows are important, aren't they. Enjoyed the visit.

  5. Hope you have sweet dreams of wonderful things to stuff your old pillow into:)

  6. My new pillow is my best buddy now! I love a new clean pillow! Have a great day tomorrow, Angela!

  7. Wow Angea, Bob and I just bought the same pillows a few months ago...but I still love my old feather pillow my mom made for me many moons ago. Great way to go green by using the old pillows for stuffing! Take care, Janice

  8. Have a fun day tomorrow Angela! Show us what you find.
I buy my pillows at Target...cheap.

  9. Hi Angela,
Yes, I always hated shopping for pillows, but I found "The Hulk" at Penny's and we love them!!!!
Good luck at the craft fair tomorrow.

  10. Neat post. Never really thought of all my pillow does! Ha! Love you.

  11. Wow that pillow sure held some wonderful treasured memories!
    Have a wonderful weekend.
Hope you find lots of treasures.

  12. WOW what a great idea I usually put mine out for the bin man! Perhaps I'll change them more often. Enjoyed your blog. cThanks. Joan

  13. Oh yes, the pillow :) We need to purchase new ones ourselves. Always had a hard time choosing the right ones. Clever to re use the stuffing. I may have to try that myself.

  14. I tried to leave a comment the other day but it didn't go through. I go through pillows like others go through shoes!!!!

  15. I'll never take my pillow for granted again!!
You made me realize just how big a part it has played in my life! And I love that you a recycling the stuffing.

  16. Fun post Angela - I am HORRIBLE with pillows. I have such a hard time finding ones I like - and don't know if I like them or not until they are a year or two old....and then, if I like them, can't remember where I got them. I sleep with 4 pillows (yes, 4 just for me) - and they can't all be the same firmness/loft. But almost all of the pillows here are due for replacement. Clever idea to recycle the pillows for stuffing, but I like down pillows, so I fear that would be quite a mess. Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin
