Dropping In To Say Hello And A Recipe for You

Good evening dear friends.  I have been missing chatting with all of you so much, but have been so busy up in the craft room for the last few weeks.  Exactly one week from today we will begin our set up for our big 3 day Labor Day Show.  Hmmmm, since I have goofed off most of the Spring and Summer I am in a crunch to get everything done on time.  I am sure none of  you ever find yourself in a situation like this in the fall, huh???

Even though I have been busy,, I do have a cake baked and will share the recipe for it if you would like at the end of this post.  So get you a plate and I will fix you something to drink.  Would you like coffee or a soda. ? Comfy,,,, well let me tell you about my day.

Well today I had two really good helpers.  Holly and Darbee Rae brought me lunch and spent the afternoon lending a much needed helping hand.  I brought work to the kitchen area because we had more room and I was staining and doing several things all at once.

Holly got busy putting toppers on the wax tarts/pantry cakes we made last week.

Darbee was great stamping on the price .

Think they turned out really cute.  One item done, on to the next project....

Okay, all my dear friends who have those big beautiful farms, please save all your laughter until I give you an update on the sales of this next project after our show.

Psst..... don't tell Darbee Rae, but see her matchbox cars she had to bring on the carport to watch her work?? Yep, there is a little tomboy in my girlee girl.... And see all that hay?  Well!!!.....

..

It was packaged up in gallon size bags and then ......

Cute toppers were added.  Don't ya think it will make for a great bowl filler for scarecrows, pumpkins and other fall goodies?

Since there are no farms close by , and lots of folks don't want to buy a whole bale of hay,,, thought this might be a good idea.  Yea,,, hope it sells like crazy and  I will be the one laughing AFTER the show like Mr. P. is laughing at us NOW.

We got some painting done, lots of items stuffed, a couple of Santas almost finished and tonight I am tired.  Thanks so much Holly and Darbee Rae for your help.

Before I leave you , I thought I would share the cake recipe with you.  Last week, I was invited to a friend's house and she had made this cake.  It was so moist and delicious.  She shared the recipe with me and I couldn't wait to make it for the Mister.  It is so simple and reminds me of a coffee cake. Great with coffee.

Just a few simple ingredients.

Southern Praline Pecan Cake

1 box Butter Pecan Cake Mix
1  container Coconut Pecan Frosting
4 eggs beaten
3/4 cup oil
1 cup water
1 cup chopped pecans {optional}*

Combine ALL ingredients into large bowl,  Mix until well blended.  Pour into lightly greased bundt pan.  Bake at 350 degrees for 50 -55 minutes or until tester come out clean,.

* if using pecans, stir in half of them into cake mixture and sprinkle remaining half into the bundt pan.

I added a powdered sugar glaze to mine to make it pretty, Hope you enjoy the recipe,.

Well, guess I better stop chatting and get back to stuffing.  Would you like to come help?  Wouldn't that be fun?  We could eat and chat all we wanted.  Hoping you are not feeling overwhelmed with pumpkins, scarecrows, witches, and spooks tonight,.   I might have those feelings, but as I look around Santas are staring back at me, ornaments of all kind are laying all about,,, my Patriotic decor is still out,,,,, Can you help me,,, just what season is it????

Hope your day has been a good one and tonight celebrate  life, family and friends,.
Until next time..
-

  4. From one crafter to another...I know exactly what you are going through. I've just started crafting for my big show that is coming up in October. Some years I do better than others, but I'm way behind this year. It's hard to think about crafting when one is in the middle of a kitchen remodel.
I love the idea of selling bags of hay. A few years back...the town where I'm doing my upcoming show banned hay or straw of any kind. We are not allowed to have it in our booths for sale or for display. How crazy is that...a Fall show where there is no hay or straw. They say it is because they are afraid of a fire. I've done this show for 27 years and there has never been a fire there...ever!!
Hope you get everything made that you are wanting to make.
    hugs,
    Cindy

  5. Your world sounds like mine right now. We have our fall open house this weekend and then 3 more shows in September, besides having to keep the shop full! Glad you had some helpers. Wouldn't it be fun to do all of this together? Have a great weekend, Dawn

  7. I have made that cake many, many times and it always amazes me just how easy and yummy it is. I want to back one right now!
Now tell Mr. that he'll have to take those laughs back because I think the hay packages are awesome. I'm one of those city folk that would snatch a bag or two up for decorating with n a heartbeat. I don't want a whole bale because I'd have no idea what to do with it after fall decor is put away.
I love those pics of Darby Rae so intent on her jobs. Just too cute!
