About Me

My photo
I have been married to my childhood sweetheart for 42 wonderful years. I have been blessed with one daughter who is grown and gone! She and her hubby have blessed us with a precious grandchild, Darbee Rae. She is eight years old and the sunshine in our days. I have always been a stay at home maid, cook, doctor, babysitter, taxi, wife, mother, and grandmother. I enjoy crafting. My interests include primitives, vintage and colonial styles. I love decorating my home. I enjoy traveling with my hubby and friends, reading, and trying different recipes. I am a Christian and enjoy activities within my church. I hope you enjoy reading about my daily adventures in crafting, shopping, and enjoying life thru the eyes of my darling grand daughter.

Let's Tour A Mansion

Well my friends you should be able to tell from the title of my post,,,, you are not going to see prim Christmas photos in this post.  But it's Christmas and I love all the beautiful Christmas decor whether it be prim, traditional, or some tacky! {smile}

Yesterday our WMU Ladies group from our church went on a little road trip to tour our Governor's Mansion all decked out for the holidays.  It was a beautiful tour, elegant and very well presented.  The pictures will speak for themselves.  So hope you enjoy coming along on the tour with me.

The foyer had many trees waiting to welcome guest.  Look closely at that chandelier. Beautiful. One of many throughout the mansion.

We were told the 2  cabbage patch kids , represented the Governor and his wife.  This was in the formal dining room.

Trees beautiuflly decorated everywhere.  Some rooms had as many as four.

                                                       A beautiful gingerbread house.

The family dining room. You can see a glimpse of the kitchen in the background.  They were preparing for a party of 80 guest for the night.  Smelled wonderful in there.  The only kitchen in the mansion.

Loved the staircase.  Decorated simple, but just look all around.  You saw all this as you entered.

Our tour ended in the basement in the ball room.  There were school choirs perforning constantly.  We were served cookies and drinks.  We were told they had already since the tours began baked 18,000 cookies..  I can see why.  They were delicious.

Darbee Rae enjoying her cookie and watching the choir performing.

Just had to get a picture in front of one of the beautiufl trees.  She thinks she is just as grown as all of us ladies.  Acts like it too.  It was a special day for her, she even missed pre K to visit the mansion.

After our tour of the Mansion , we had reservations for lunch at the famous Swan House.

What did I choose to eat?  Something I have never tried in my lifetime.  I ordered a Fried Green Tomato Sandwich and Sweet Potato Fries.  It was delicious.

After lunch a quick trip to IKEA for a little shopping  and our day was complete. Darbee Rae entertained us on the way home in the van by singing her little heart out with Christmas Carols. Such a fun filled day with some of the nicest and most caring ladies I know.

After all that's what Christmas is all about, right?  Remembering the birth of our Lord and Saviour and spending time with family and friends.  Hoping during this busy holiday season you are all taking time to enjoy a few simple and fun things in your everyday life.

I am so enjoying the Merriment post of those of you who are participating . Such prim perfect photos you are sharing.  Will be back to my Prim old self in the next post.  And guess who is back working up his mischief?  Yes, Wilbur the elf.  Can't wait to show you what he has been up to.

Until next time,.
