I have been married to my childhood sweetheart for 42 wonderful years. I have been blessed with one daughter who is grown and gone! She and her hubby have blessed us with a precious grandchild, Darbee Rae. She is eight years old and the sunshine in our days. I have always been a stay at home maid, cook, doctor, babysitter, taxi, wife, mother, and grandmother. I enjoy crafting. My interests include primitives, vintage and colonial styles. I love decorating my home. I enjoy traveling with my hubby and friends, reading, and trying different recipes. I am a Christian and enjoy activities within my church. I hope you enjoy reading about my daily adventures in crafting, shopping, and enjoying life thru the eyes of my darling grand daughter.

Let's Visit and Catch Up.. Come On In

Good evening friends.  I know it has been awhile since we have visited so let's just sit  a bit and catch up on all the news.

You have visited with me by way of the front porch, we have even sat there and chatted sipping on lemonade, and also thru the back door and straight into the heart of the home the kitchen.  However, I am bringing you in a different way this evening.  By way of our new deck.  You got a brief view of the deck in the last post.  And I must say when I showed the huge plant on the deck, I called it a pregnant onion.  Mr. P. informed me when he read the blog, I was so wrong.  It is a ponytail plant.  Sorry,  I am not to good with plants and names.  After our new windows and slider was installed, my mister got busy and built us a deck.

It's a perfect spot to sit and have coffee in the early morning.

It's not a big deck but you might wonder why I am so proud of it.  Let me share with you a picture of the same area before our renovations began.

Such a big difference, huh?  Most of the work was done when we were getting sooo much rain, so when Mr. P. transplanted the plants they never knew they had been moved.  Okay, enough about the deck.  We would sit out here and visit but it has been quite muggy and hot here in West Central Georgia this week, so let's step on inside.

When we last visited , if you remember I was not pleased with the area where the piano once sat.  Well after several attempts at decorating that space, I have finally found something I am pleased with.

We got this old dresser from an estate sale, and it has been in the barn for a year or so.  Our plans are to have it in the bathroom as a vanity.  We have the large old mirror that goes on the back.  But until that day comes, it has a new home and purpose here.  I now have my reading nook and more storage.  What do you think?

Now lets catch up.  Hope you all are enjoying your Spring.  It just seems to be going by so fast. The end of April, Mr. P. and I took a trip.  Our first stop was on the outskirts of Nashville to the Country Living Fair.  It was a first for me and I have to say it was wonderful.  The weather was great and comfortable.  Although I  had blisters on my feet from all the walking,  But I was not disappointed.  Here are a few pictures I will share with you,.

I just loved the sheep cut outs.  They looked so real.  Would have loved one of them for my yard.  I will definitely be on the look out when the fair comes to Atlanta.

We went on up to Dover, TN, where we stayed a few days with our friends.  They took us over  into KY,  We had such a good time junking and antique shopping.  Got lots of goodies and I am still playing with them to get them just where I want them.

Also this Spring, we went to our first pasture sale.  It had rained all week, so parking was a mess as you could not park in the field and it was quite muddy, but we still had fun.

Most of the set ups had vintage and farmhouse items, but I can always find something calling my name to bring home with me.  It was a neat experience.  We don't have many sales like this here in our parts.  In fact this was only the second year for this one.  I hope it will become an annual event.

The first weekend in May, we went to the annual Cotton Pickin Festival here in Gay, GA.  It is the biggest craft show around here.  We love it and Mr. P. sales to several exhibitors that set up there.  So we always go and visit with them.  Caught PaPa explaining all about cotton to Darbee Rae.

And then there was Memorial Day weekend.  We celebrated all weekend. On Friday night we had a cook out at Holly and Stacys.  Was wonderful being with family and as usual it ended with a fire and roasting marshmellows.

On Sunday afternoon, everyone came here and we grilled again.  It was so much fun just spending time together.  I am so blessed even though we have such a small family.  I always miss my Daddy when we have a gathering.  He always enjoyed it so much.  Caught a picture of a few of the family hanging out on the front porch before everyone arrived.  Mr. P. had his coffee and everyone was reading the paper.  A perfect Sunday afternoon.

Loved this picture captured at night of the flag on the swing.

I am so excited to tell you I am beginning to love cross stitch.  Nothing hard and complicated, however I am so enjoying all the free patterns I am finding on Pinterest and blogs. I have finished these two  pinkeeps but don't have a clue whose patterns they are.  However I am so thankful to those who are so talented and share with us.

This one took me forever.  I still have to finish it off but love it.

I am still working on Fall /Christmas in the craft room.  It feels so good to be ahead of the game for the show in September.  And so much more fun creating when I am not rushed and in a hurry.

Last week, I played in the kitchen one full day.  Those that know me well, know I love to cook sweets, but hate to prepare a meal.  So,,, this is a sample of what I did.

This was a recipe I found on Facebook for a Fresh Strawberry Roll Cake.  I was scared, but it turned out perfect.  I really think the longer it sat in the fridge, the better it was.  I will definitely make this again.  It rolled and cut beautifully.

And these were little individual lemon pies.  Our neighbor was in a bad wreck almost a month ago, and had just come home from the hospital.  I did force myself to cook supper for the mister to take to them and several of these pies.  I have also made chocolate pies this way and they were a big hit.

So,,, hope you have enjoyed your visit with me.  And I haven't bored you too much.  I will leave you with a recent picture of Darbee Rae.  She is getting so tall and growing up so fast.  Looking forward to a fun summer with my girls.  Hoping you have a great summer planned with family and friends.  We will talk again soon, I promise.

Until next time...... Know that you are blessed.
