On Tuesday I picked Darbee Rae up from preschool as Holly had a teacher meeting. Remember in my last post I introduced you to Wilbur the elf Santa had left to watch Darbee Rae at Nana's. Well when we came in from town , this is where we found him.
That silly elf had climbed up on my display and was putting a princess tiara on my prim doll. Santa definitely did not teach him how to decorate in the primitive style, huh? Darbee Rae was thrilled with her light up tiara and the fact that Wilbur knew she was going to be coming in with Nana. Smart elf, huh?
Today was a busy and fun day. The day for our town's Christmas Parade. It has been a family tradition to go to the parade every year since the beginning of this activity. When Holly was small she was on floats for Little league ball and with the 4-H Shooting Team a number of years. We have stood with snowflakes falling, a fine mist of rain, battled the wind and cold, whatever weather we were dealt, we were faithful watchers. The last few years have been different as we now have Darbee Rae and she has grown to love it as much as her Mother and myself before her. Thought you might like to see a few pictures . So come along and enjoy the parade with us.
Having fun with cousin Zack. She loves him so much and he is so sweet to take up time with her.
With Mommy and Daddy
This is a tradition, having her picture made with Papa. Usually they are bundled up but today the weather was in the 60's. Just perfect for a parade, but not so much for Christmas weather. This photo makes me sad. Darbee Rae is growning so fast and soon this pose will become a thing of the past.
There were lots of beautiful floats.
Dancers
And three of our High Schools Bands performing Christmas Carols.
See the smile and the look on this face. There is only one person that could make this so magical. The one Darbee Rae waited over an hour just to get a glimpse of........
And he spotted her and waved directly to her. Yep, another tradition comes and goes and this is one happy Nana.
After the parade, we rushed home, got our food and headed back to church for our annual Christmas Supper. Lots of good old southern cooking and wonderful fellowship. The end to a perfect Lord's Day , one in which I feel so blessed with family and friends.
Hope you all had a wonderful weekend and are ready to face a new week. Check by soon as I promise to post my Christmas Decor.
Until then....
Had so much fun today! Darbee Rae makes this time of year so magical.

Our small town Maritime Christmas parade was last Thursday night with the lighting of the tree at the end. Lots of fun at parades, and its so nice to have traditions! Take care, Janice

ReplyDeleteHi Angela,
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet child....love the tradition you have.
The snowman is made of cement. I believe it has peat moss and perlite in it to take some weight out.
Thanks for coming by.

What a great day....I love parades, but gave up going to the Christmas lighting one in the town we're closest too - It seems like it always ends up with horrendous weather, and so many of the "floats" are just vehicles with political advertising and such. Takes away a bit from the spirit of the season. And I think you just might have a little model in training on your hands - those poses of hers crack me up! But my favorite is that look she's giving her daddy in the photo with Holly, daddy and her....too cute! Wishing you a wonderful week ahead....Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin
ReplyDeleteHi Angela, Love your pics. It was like I was there. Loved DarbeeRae's top....tooo cute. We never had the "elf" thing in my family, but Melissa read about it and Monica now has an elf....Clifford!!!! (That's my dad's middle name, and I'm sure Monica didn't know that!!!!)
ReplyDeleteAlthough, she could have been thinking of Clifford, the Big Red Dog!!!! lol
Lois
Looks like everyone had a lot of fun, especially the kids. Great pics!
