I have been waiting for something wonderful to happen here at the homeplace so I would have something great to post about. Everyday has been good, but quite and peaceful. Not a lot going on. So I have waited,,, and waited... and tonight just decided to get on and chat away. I have been bad about commenting on your blogs and for that I am so sorry. I have visited quitely but I promise to do better. Guess you could say I have been in a rut!!
But life is good, I am blessed and thankful. Last week was spent shopping with my girls and cleaning out closets, drawers, and cabinets. And on Saturday Holly and I had a huge yard sale. Did great. At least I feel good about that and getting rid of some things.
As most of you know already I was an only child born to my parents when my mother was 33 years old. She was also an only child so we have a rather small family as Holly is also an only child. Mr. P has one sister and 2 brothers. His sister was small when Mr. P and I married. In fact she was the flower girl at our wedding. But as you all know time seems to close a gap as far as age is concerned. Maudie and I have become really close over the years. She and her hubby live in a town about 25 miles away but we get together often. She knows we love old things and has been so kind over the years when she finds something she knows we will like or can use in our crafts. We share recipes, ideas and she has become a sister I never had. She would come over and watch Holly when she was little and has SPOILED Darbee Rae in a good way. Darbee love for Aunt Maudie to come and "play" with her. Maudie has always brought her the BEST goodies in her very own bag.
This is a picture of Maudie with Darbee taken earlier this year.
This morning we decided to call Maudie, go to her town and do some shopping. You all know us girls love to shop. So off we went. There is a resturant in town there called "Hog Heaven". That is where I wanted to go for lunch. Why do you ask? Well the food is good, but nothing great, BUT they have something on their menu we can't find anywhere else. Pipping Hot Pork Skins!!
They come to your table popping and sizzling. And are so light and crispy. SHHHH,,,, don't tell my doctor I had a few for lunch. I just saw her this past week and got the results from my blood work.. This would not be a healthy food on my diet. But once in a blue moon,,,, it can't hurt can it?? Had never tried dipping them in ranch dressing but they were delicious. Even saved some for the Mr. and brought them home to him.
Today was a fun day spent with one very special Sister-in-law and my girls. Shopping was fun. Found a few things, but am one tired Nana tonight. Hope you are all doing something fun this week. Have a quick and easy recipe to share with you ,,, so will be back in a few days to do just that . I promise!!
Until then, thanks for stopping by and letting me chat for awhile. Will visit with you all soon!
Sounds like you had a fun day with the girls. Wish you could all come on up for the antique show and to meet Connie next month. Have a great week, Dawn
ReplyDeleteHad a fun day. Love you!

I think we all get into blogging ruts. I know I have been in one for the last few months. I'm glad to read your nice post. Those pork skins look deadly! Yum.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Courtney
Well, we call that kind of food, "Moderation". Andrew named it that. He likes to eat fast food and his Mommy told him he could only eat that kind of food in moderation. Ever since he has called it that. I was with them and we stopped at Krispy Kreme for doughnuts. Andreww said,"Daddy, are we at moderation?" So enjoy your pork skins! Sounds as if you had a wonderful day. Isn't it amazing how similar our lives are? Only children of only children. Have a wonderful rest of the week.
ReplyDeleteThere you are Angela! Don't feel bad about not commenting, we'll leave a light on for ya! Geeze, you have more going on than I do - great post! I have a small famliy too. Hello Angela! Sounds like you and the girls had a wonderful time. I had pork skins along time ago, but can't say I like them! My husband used to eat those things all the time! I get in a rut too, I don't have much to Blog about. I visit Blogs, but don't always comment. I guess we all go through that every now and then. Take care and have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteGlad you had fun Angela! Having something that is bad for you does not hurt every once in awhile...plus I won't tell. Take care, Janice
ReplyDeleteHi Angela,
ReplyDeleteSounds like you all had a wonderful time on your outing!! I hadn't posted to my blog in almost a week. Just too much going on here of everyday life...nothing exciting like shopping, thrifting or crafting. Today was a calm day, so I finally got a post up. I've been blogging for over 4 years now...and have had a few blogging ruts over the years.
hugs,
Cindy
oh my hubby would love those pork skins!!! I don't have a lot going on either but my reason is pain in my shoulder. Saw surgeon today. Not fun. Pray for me. Loved hearing about your sister n law!! And you know that I LOVE your recipes!!! I can't wait!
ReplyDeleteSometimes just hearing about everyday things people do is just as good as the "big" stuff. I enjoyed this post. My father used to eat pork skins. I tried them when I was little, but never have again. They look good:) I am glad you had a good time shopping, and cleaning, and having a yard sale. I have always wanted to have one, but never can save things to sell. I have to throw them out asap or take the to GW. Have a great evening. -Steph-
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear from you, Angela.. It is easy to get in a rut and I have done it many times.. I have not tried pork rinds before.. We don't have them here.. Sounds interesting..
ReplyDeleteHave a great evening...
God bless..
Hi Angela,
ReplyDeleteBeen thinking about ya and wondering what's going on with you. Sounds like you had a fun day shopping and visiting. Small family here too. I have one brother and my husband had 2 brothers, but only one left now.
Me too, in a blogging rut. I pop on here every other day to catch up. And don't care for pork skins either!!!! Maybe done up in a restaurant taste different than buying a bag of them!!!
Have a good weekend.
Lois
I don't think I'm in a blogging rut, but just spread too thin to keep up. I feel badly not being able to keep up....but it is what it is....And rummage sales are a lot of work. I did one a few years back - between the hauling out, marking, and hauling away afterwards, I swore I'd never do it again....but they're having an area sale in June here and I have thought about it....not likely to happen though with all that's on my plate right now.
ReplyDeleteReally? There's such a thing as freshly made pork skins? Oh YIKES! I'd love to try them....I've only had the ones they sell as snacks in the bags - and have to admit, I'm slightly addicted to the hot n' spicy ones.... :o) Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin
