About Me

My photo
I have been married to my childhood sweetheart for 42 wonderful years. I have been blessed with one daughter who is grown and gone! She and her hubby have blessed us with a precious grandchild, Darbee Rae. She is eight years old and the sunshine in our days. I have always been a stay at home maid, cook, doctor, babysitter, taxi, wife, mother, and grandmother. I enjoy crafting. My interests include primitives, vintage and colonial styles. I love decorating my home. I enjoy traveling with my hubby and friends, reading, and trying different recipes. I am a Christian and enjoy activities within my church. I hope you enjoy reading about my daily adventures in crafting, shopping, and enjoying life thru the eyes of my darling grand daughter.

Unfinished Projects, My Excuse, and Ramblings

Good Tuesday evening to all!  Hope your week is going great.  It has been a while since I have invited you in to sit and chat so I felt guilty and decided to bake a cake to share.  Would you like a piece and some coffee, tea, soda, or just a glass of ice water?   Oh  and I have cold milk if you choose. This is my all time favorite , a Caramel Cake.  Up until a few months ago I could NOT do caramel icing.  A sweet blogging friend shared her Mom's recipe and I have been so grateful  as I have already made it several times and it is always perfect.  Hope you like it as well.

As most of you know I have started punch needle and I love it.  A while back I purchased this Easter pattern. It is called Jelly Bean Adventures by Jan Mott.

I was so excited to start punching on it. This is where I am today.

Yes, I know that Easter has come and gone.  And I have a good way to go don't you think?  Just one of many WIP's that are lying around the homeplace.

More items that are not finished.  If you are lucky one day you will see these finished as well.  They will be Christmas ornaments for a prim tree.   Do I just start something and skip to another project and not finish any items?  Heck, no!  I really have a much better excuse.

Like having a tea party with Darbee Rae

And spending our days shopping.  Those of you with grandchildren know what I am talking about.  She is going to be my one and only  grandchild and right now I am throughlly enjoying my time spent with her.  She will start school in the fall so this summer, I am spending as much time as I can with her before she grows up and starts on her journey of making her own little friends and all the activities that school will bring about.  Life is uncertain and we are not promised tomorrow, so my work will get done eventually but right now my days are full of fun, family, and love.

Mr. P however has been busy in the workshop.  No craft shows in our area so he has been creating things for me.  So sweet of him don't you think?

Love my new wall display. Thank You Mr. P. You work so hard while I am out playing around with my girls.

Love my door box.  I have been wanting  one of these for quite a while.  He even made it so that I could put it on the outside on the glass door.   Well, there may not be shows around here but this weekend I felt like I had been to one with my goodies.

I want to share an update with all of you.  Remember a while back I ask for prayer for all the families that were affected by the lay off at Mr. P's work?  Well I am so thankful to report to you that with the exception of two former employees, everyone has found a job and is currently working.  One of the ones without a job is going back to school for training in a new field.  Thanks to all who said a prayer for these families.  We feel so much better.

I so enjoyed you stopping by tonight and having some cake and coffee with me. Hope you enjoyed your visit as much as I enjoyed having you.  I am leaving you with a photo of Darbee Rae.  One of my absolute favorite.  Holly dresses her so cute when we are out and about, but sometime Darbee Rae just HAS to dress herself.  On this day when we were going to be playing at home,,, she was a ROCK STAR and she was really dressed for the occassion.  Until we visit again......
..

P.S. If you do not follow Holly's blog , please go over and visit her post for today.  There is a message in it for all of us. http://hollyanddarbee.blogspot.com/

  3. You just take all the time you want when it comes to that darling granddaughter of yours. I totally agree. My granddaughter, Tori, is soon to be 13 but it makes no matter...I spend every minute I can with her. She loves being with me, too. It is a blessing!

Mr. P. has been very busy. Isn't it nice that you get to keep the things he makes?

  12. Hi Angela,
From one grandma to another...I know exactly what you are talking about. I have two grandchildren that are 10 years apart in age...and they may be the only 2 that I will have. I try to spend as much time with them that I can. I worried as my granddaughter got older (she is about to turn 12) that she wouldn't want to hang out with grandma anymore...that it would be way more cool to hang out with her girl-friends. Thankfully, she still loves to hang out with me and I will take every moment that I can have with her.
I so agree with you that life is uncertain...that work can get done another day and that it is important to fill our days right now with family, fun and love.
Love the goodies that Mr. P made for you and Oh my...does that cake look yummy!!
    hugs,
    Cindy

  13. It seems like Little Miss Darbee is growing up right before our eyes. I've only been following your blog for a year or so, but I can see the changes. What a little doll she is. Glad to see and hear you're enjoying your days - a bit of baking, a little crafting, and lots of loving. Looks like you got the balance right! Love your wall/candle boxes by Mr. P....What a talented hubby you have there! Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin

  14. Darbee is getting tall Angela! After she starts school you can chaperone her class trips and bring in cupcakes with CARAMEL frosting for the class! So many rich memories she will cherish forever in her heart! Love your new wall display your Mr. made you, and great news about the layoff folks. Our hospital just shut down and 400 people lost their jobs. For a small town that's quite a blow. Can't wait to see those prim ornies! ~*~Lisa
