About Me

My photo
I have been married to my childhood sweetheart for 42 wonderful years. I have been blessed with one daughter who is grown and gone! She and her hubby have blessed us with a precious grandchild, Darbee Rae. She is eight years old and the sunshine in our days. I have always been a stay at home maid, cook, doctor, babysitter, taxi, wife, mother, and grandmother. I enjoy crafting. My interests include primitives, vintage and colonial styles. I love decorating my home. I enjoy traveling with my hubby and friends, reading, and trying different recipes. I am a Christian and enjoy activities within my church. I hope you enjoy reading about my daily adventures in crafting, shopping, and enjoying life thru the eyes of my darling grand daughter.

Thru the eyes of a child

On Wednesday I was fortunate to have been invited on a short trip with  my daughter and her family to Mississippi. I was so excited to get away for a few days and so looking forward to staying in a hotel with my 3 year old granddaughter. This child loves a hotel like most kiddos love candy. She can spot a hotel off the interstate. She loves staying in the room and playing. So needless to say she was tickled pink.
The weather was beautiful and on Friday the temp. was in the low 70's.  It felt so good. We all enjoyed walking on the beach and I enjoyed  Darbee staying overnite in Nana's hotel room.  We made memories I hope neither of us forget. Darbee was so excited looking out  our hotel room. Wondering what she was thinking

This picture just melts my heart.  Darbee said ,It's just us girls Nana, you don't have to be scared, I wll hold your hand."  Yep, there's nothing like seeing the world in the eyes of a child. We were on our way home and Darbee said she wanted to go to a primitive shop.  When I explained to her there were none around she said "Well , let's just go to the mountains then",  She knows we visit several when we go to Tn. She is definitely a primitive girl in training!
My daughter and her family.  Thank you for a wonderful few days. Life is to short not to stop and enjoy the little things.  Memories were made and stored in my mind forever .Found this quote and thought it was approiate for this trip.
"Our memories of the ocean will linger on, long after our footprints in the sand are gone"

Hope all of you are making memories of your own this weekend.

Thinking of Spring

Yesterday was a beautiful day here at the homeplace.  Morning dawned with temps. actually above freezing, and the sun shining brightly. Made me happy inside. So I decided to pretend it was a cool Spring day.  The wooden front door swung open, glass door letting the sun shine in.   WOW.  that's when I realized I should be doing Spring cleaning.  Didn't realize how many visitors I had lurking under the end tables, and dust bunnies... well I won't go there.  Opened up the french doors leading to the sunroom and went out to sit and admire the beauty God blessed us with on this Monday morning.  I am so ready for cool spring mornings when I can sit in this room and have a cup of coffee.
Last year Mr. P. made this piece of furniture for a craft show.  He let me borrow it for the sunroom until time for the show.  Hummmmm.... It just didn't want to leave the sunroom.  So being the sweetie he is, I still have it.  It just says spring to me.  Hope all of you have a warm heart and sunshine in your day.

My Thrift Store Purchase

Happy Saturday everyone.  Hope you have had a great day. I have had a good day staying at home and playing.  Have you ever bought one little thing ladies, and had to rearrange half your home?  Well that has how my day has gone, but it was so much fun.  Still gota tweak a few places, but am happy tonight. Last week while browsing our local Goodwill store I heard a sweet little lamp call out to me. I stood and had a long talk with the little voice in my head that was telling me I definitely didn't need another lamp.  Well that little voice won, and I walked away. BUT.....being a woman, and knowing what I wanted , this week I returned hoping to find that lamp and give it a new home.  To my surprise it was still on the shelf and this week half off. Now mind you there were no shades on it but that didn't stop me. I haven't decided whether to paint it or not, but it quickly found a spot in my kitchen.
Sorry I am not so good at taking pictures, but you can get an idea.  I had purchased the toile shades last year at a thrift store brand new for a dollar. I am so excited to get a bargain, and am proud of my lamp, total price less than  $ 6.00 .  However, the 2 lamps that this one replaced was the reason I have played all day.  They now have a home in the living room.  Sitting here this evening in my cozy living room, with the heater going, I can count 10 lamps burning and giving off a soft glow.  Hope you have something to be thankful for tonight and  somthing to light up your life.  Warm wishes until next time

Pausing...To Give Thanks

Giving thanks today for something most of us take for granted daily......The gift of our sight. We took a family member who is legally blind to the Atlanta Low Visual Center to see if there was anything they could do to help her function better on a daily basis.  I was amazed at the merchandise that is available to help those who are less fortunate than myself live a more normal life.  Sitting in the waiting area, watching people as they came in and out made me realize how blessed I am.  Most of us wake in the morning and see the dawn of another day, see our families as they come and go, go to our computers, read the morning paper, and then get busy with our day and never think what life would be like without our sight. Tonight I will say an extra thank you when I say my prayers for the gift of my sight and a prayer for those  who have to deal with this handicap. I have nothing but respect for those who accept  their disability and with such determination  face each day as a challange . These people are to be admired.  Look your husband in the face, look into your children's eyes and be thankful for this wonderful gift.  Have a good evening. Until we meet again.......

Test Run

Daughter is here to help me with pictures.  I am learning...hope to be able to load pics. on here very soon! Gonna post one today to learn how...here is where I wish I was today...

We visited Berlin, Ohio on vacation in September.  This little town made a lasting impression. The simple and serene lifestyle of the Amish ceased to amaze me.  Hopefully we can return there again this fall.  There is so much to see and do.  The shopping was great. Never have I seen the variety of primitives in one place.

The best of intentions

Hello everyone. Hope you all had a great weekend. Here we fnally said goodbye to all the ice and snow that fell on our state yesterday was 1 week ago.  I finally got out of the house on Thursday.  I don't remember having snow and ice on the ground for this long since I was a child.
Woke this morning with good intentons.  Had so much on my list to get accomplished and actually was getting things done UNTIL.... I decided to be brave and use the bread machine I got for Christmas. I found a recipe for cinnamon bread that sounded so good off the internet and it got rave reviews.  When I went to add the cinnamon, I decided to go to craft room and get a new bottle to make sure it was fresh.  You know ladies how often we use cinnamon in our crafts so I store all my extra upstairs in my work room.  Got the bread on, and everyone commented on how good it would make your house smell.  Well it didn't , but I was boilng green beans and had food on for supper so I thought that was why.  Just a few minutes ago, took the bread out, all pretty and round, a perfect loaf, but the color was not like the picture.  Set it on the island to cool, and there was my spice........CLOVES  not cinnamon.  Oh my !!That 's  what happens when you get in a hurry.. A ruined loaf of homeade bread.  I will not be defeated.  Another loaf will be in the bread machne shortly.
My daughter is coming over one day this week and I will have my next lesson on blogging.  Hope to learn how to post pictures this week.  Hope you are havng a great day. Until next time,

Angela

A New Begining

Welcome everyone to my little corner of the world.  I have been blog hopping for several years now, and love all the wonderful blogs I have become a constant visitor on.  For a while now I have wanted to comment on so many of your blogs, as I feel I know so many of you personally thru your posts. So on this very cold day in Ga. with snow all around my daughter, Holly and granddaughter Darbee Rae came to make my wishes come true.  You must know I am not so good on the computer and this is definitely a new experience for me.  Please be patient with me as I learn what I am doing. I hope you will visit often as I share with you a small portion of my life with my family and friends. This is a big step for me . I hope to make many friends thru my humble blog.  Excited about the days to come. Until next time. Stay safe and be warm.
