About Me

My photo
I have been married to my childhood sweetheart for 42 wonderful years. I have been blessed with one daughter who is grown and gone! She and her hubby have blessed us with a precious grandchild, Darbee Rae. She is eight years old and the sunshine in our days. I have always been a stay at home maid, cook, doctor, babysitter, taxi, wife, mother, and grandmother. I enjoy crafting. My interests include primitives, vintage and colonial styles. I love decorating my home. I enjoy traveling with my hubby and friends, reading, and trying different recipes. I am a Christian and enjoy activities within my church. I hope you enjoy reading about my daily adventures in crafting, shopping, and enjoying life thru the eyes of my darling grand daughter.

Woo Hoo! 50 Followers and a Smile

Today I have reached 50 followers. I am so excited.  First let me thank all of you who have become a friend and follower of my blog.  In January when my daughter suggested I start a blog I could not possibly believe anyone would want to visit and hear me rat and rave about my life, my family, and what little bit of crafting I enjoy doing.  It is a journey I am enjoying so much.  I still have so much to learn, but am enjoying the process. Guess it goes to prove you're never too old to learn.  Now I need your help.  Want to do a giveaway but need 50 more followers to make that happen.  So help me get the word out and tell your buddies.  Can't wait!

For those of you who have followed for a while, you know my Mother is 90 and in a nursing home.  The staff there is and has been really good to her, but Mother can be a tough cookie to handle at times.  For a month or so lately she has really been kinda out of it.  Hard to keep her awake, and she just didn't act right.  Several times I quiestioned her nurses about her meds, and they assured me they had the doses right and she was fine. Well I had enough, and on Wed. talked to Nurse Practioner and found out she was being sedated .  Was I ever mad.  That day things were changed and today......Mother SMILED and actually talked to us.  You just don't know what that did to my soul to see her smile again.  She actually talked to us a little, loved on Darbee, and we fed her candy.  Such a big improvement over the last month .

If you ever (and I hope You are not)  have to have a loved one go to a facility, please stay on top of their situation.  Visit often and ask questions  I have been heart broken upon leaving Mother on visits, but today I told her goodbye and she was still talking as she was being wheeled down the hall.  She was Mother again.  For that I can smile and be so thankful.

Hope all of you stop for a minute and realize you have so much to be thankful for on the beautiful Sunday that God blessed us with. Unitl we talk again......

  1. Hi Angela,
Glad your Mom is better. My husbands Mom is in the same situation but today he took her to church and she seemed to be better and did smile a little.
I will be glad when I reach 50 followers. It is moving slow...is that the norm?
Send some warm weather our way and have a great week!

  11. Congrats on your 50 followers! I know how hard it can be having a loved one in a nursing care facility..my mom had the unfortunate task of placing my grandmother in one. However my mom and dad visited every day, and I did when I could. It seemed like the family members who did not visit, those were the patients that seem to be neglected...it was so sad, but I am glad things turned out good for you! Take care. Janice

  12. That is so scary about your Mom. I am so glad that she is back. Why were they doing that? Anyway, congrats on the 50 followers but looks like you are 65 now counting me. I had no idea that I was not a follower but I am now. I love your blog.
