I am so glad so many of you visited me on my front porch. The first few days of June have been record breaking HOT temps. here in the South. Even with the old vintage fan, sitting on the porch would not have been very comfy. This evening I thought I would share a few pic of my patriotic decorating inside. Have had fun over the weekend playing house and getting ready for you to visit. At least inside you will be cool as we visit.
Just a little shelf in the built in cabinet that holds the t.v. That candle light burns 24 hours a day. Love the warm glow.
The mantle above the fireplace.
Finally decided to make something for myself. Have had this pattern for some time and as soon as it was done found the perfect spot on the fireplace cover.
Now if you're getting tired and want to sit, Miss Bessie Mae is a Southern Lady. She will be glad to let you have her chair. After all she sits there all day long. So ask politely and she will so graciously share her seat.
I saw a jar with the flag and candle on a primitive blog and fell in love with it. Could't find it when I was searching to give the blog credit. If it was on your blog , thanks for sharing. It is one of my favorite displays this season.
There are still a few areas in the living room I am working on and will share with you later. After all,,, are we ever completely done and satisfied with our homes? But for now I want to show you something in the kitchen. So let's head on in that direction.
Just a simple cloche on the little cabinet.
A little display on the island. As you can see I decorate with a mixture of primitive and country farmhouse. I love all styles of decorating. If I like something, then I use it in my displays.
Can you tell I have a thing for old black chairs? Love the old can with the sunflowers in it. Begged a young guy out of this can several years back at a yard sale. It was his grandmothers. At first he wouldn't sell it and later in the afternoon called me to come get it. Makes it even more special.
Open shelves in the kitchen. Have been thinking about closing these in and making a pantry. Sure could use the storage.
A picture of my dining table. Can you see what's in the plates? Let's take a look a little closer.
Yep, It's an old porcelain doornob. Bent rusty wire to go in it, added a flag, and stamped words on a piece of cardstock paper pretaining to the holidays. The ideas are endless. Love this idea. I have two brown doornobs and two white ones on the table. You could also put old pictures in them.
Well that's about it for tonight. Tomorrow is a work day and I don't want to keep all you guys out to late. Hope you have enjoyed your visit this evening. I have enjoyed having you over and sharing my humble home with you. All of you take care, have a great Monday and we will visit again soon, ya hear?
Love everything. Looks so cozy. Enjoyed our evening tonight. Talk to you in the morning. Love ya!

MY~MY~MY! You do love your Americana! I love the flag in a jar, the cloche with a flag and daisies, and especially a coffee can with sunflowers! I'm going to have to try to copy these, if possible. I know I don't have a cloche that tall. Where on earth did you find that?
ReplyDeleteI would use those open shelves to display my home-canned goods. But I like the of open shelving, all around. *sigh* not gonna happen here.....

Love all of your patriotic decor...what a fun way to use old porcelean door knobs!!!. Keep up the great work...and you are right, we are never really done decorating at any time...cause the seasons are always a changing! take care, Janice
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed my visit, as always : ) I love decorating with a patriotic theme in mind. It is probably my favorite decorating time other than Christmas. Blessings, Shirlee
ReplyDeleteHi Angela, love all your americana, nice displays. Love the flag in the jar, really neat. The uncle sam doll and the stocking with the crow and the flags really makes the house come alive for the holidays. Thanks for telling me about you daughter and her breathing problems when she came home, just nice to know we are not alone in this problem, take care of yourself, stay cool. Vicky
ReplyDeleteAngela,
ReplyDeleteI love your decor. I too love the Americana colors. I also am one for just displaying things I like and making it work in. Those shelves are perfect the way they are. I wouldn't change them at all. I too seem to paint a lot of things black. I think it makes the other colors pop.
Thanks for sharing.
