We were just kiddies when we were married. I was 17 , graduated in June and we were married in July less than one month later. Mr. P was 18 and had graduated the year before and was working and already saving for us as a family.
We were married at the little country church where I had actually met my Mister when we were in grammar school. My daddy was the pastor of the church at that time. We were married on July 13th and really took a risk as it just happened to be FRIDAY 13 th. We had a simple ceremony but with a little different twist. If any of you are old enough to remember the hit song, "The Ceremony" sung by George Jones and Tammy Wynette? We sang our wedding vows. Guess we were young and had good sets of nerves. To do that today in front of a church filled to capacity with friends and family,,,,There is no way.
Yep. walking down that asile, with my eyes on my young husband to be,,,, made my heart skip a beat. Now these are pictures of pictures somewhat faded as it has been a few years, so be kind. But, you will still be able to see Mr. P.'s blue double knit suit and check out the brown shoes!
After the wedding a simple reception was given for all outside at one of the church members home
We left there that evening and went to our new home Mr. P had already bought for the two of us and I had so loveingly decorated. I already had acquired the love of old things even then. Sure wish I had pictures of the simplicity of our home , we so soon filled with love.
We grew into young adults together. We talked constantly about our dreams, wishes, and hopes for the future. A life we would share together. We learned quickly to give and take, to laugh and cry together, to say "I'm Sorry" and that communicating was going to be a major part of a successful marriage. We learned how to overcome lots of obstacles, shared lots of good times and bad, but thru it all our love never withered.
Nine years after our marriage , we were blessed with a baby girl. Yet, again our hearts skipped a beat. Holding her in my arms for the first time, I found a new love that was a love deeper than I could ever have imagined, and yet a love so different than my love for Mr. P
We have been blessed with many wonderful years of marriage. Not always easy, not always smooth, yet we have met each and every encounter and given it all we had. When the journey seems to take us to a dead end, our faith in God and his presence in our lives gets us thru to another day.
Holly has been the sunshine in our lives and today she has a family of her own. The day our granddaughter was born, my heart skipped a beat again. The first time I had ever witnessed the birth of a baby and for it to be my own granddaughter was seeing a miracle before my very eyes. My extended family have gone on to their final destinations and I cherish our little family .
This was taken this past Christmas. We are so blessed to have Holly and her family living just a few miles away. Guys you make our hearts skip a beat.
I could bore you all day long , with other things that make my heart skip a beat. But I can't close without saying a good visit with all my friends, whether to sit and just chat and gossip of course, or having a nice lunch with them and maybe a little shopping afterward. I am so thankful for each and every one.
And last but certainly not least, all of you, my blogging friends and family. Whether we ever meet in person or we just continue our online friendships, you guys make me smile, and make my heart skip a beat when I see all the comments you so sweetly leave on my humble little blog post. You all have a special place in my heart.
Material things , I can really get excited over, my heart skips a beat when I find the perfect prim item, walk into a primitive shop, and even see some of the pictures you guys post for us all to see. But it's family, friends, and the feeling of all the love in my life that really gets the old ticker beating fast.
Again Mr. P. , Happy Anniversary. You have devoted your whole life to your family and providing for us. You have and are still striving to make all our dreams and wishes to come true. I love you with all my heart. Thank you for a Happy and Interesting Journey we started 38 years ago today and hoping we don't reach our destination for many years to come. Although I would not sing the lyrics to our wedding song today, after all these years, I would still say I DO! I'll always be your "Lady". I love you.
Happy Anniversary you two. You are such an inspiration to me. Both of you truly know what love is and have shown it to me in every way possible. Have fun on your trip. Love you both so much!
