I decided to work in craft room most of the day. Had been wanting to try a new pattern, and I have to say for something to be so simple, it almost got the best of me. Don't know if my heart was not into it, or if all my "marbles" were not working today. Slow day for this old brain. But I would not be defeated. Here is my finished product.
Love that you can put a tea light inside.
Sorry just realized I covered the mouth with the twigs. He does have a mouth.
.Also got a few other things done in the craft room this week. Finished up several stitcheries, and made these little ones. Now who could be superstitious of these black cats?
On Wednesday, the mail lady was so nice to me, yet again. I recieved a giveaway win from Sandy at the Old Country Cupboard. I was one of 3 lucky winners.
I won one of her reindeer feedsack pillows. It was so much bigger than I thought and gosh, it smells so yummy. And I got a really cute card. Want to see another picture of the pillow?
Thanks Sandy. You are so generous. Okay you guys, don't vote me off blogland but I will be so glad when winter time gets here, the hot temps. are gone and I can decorate with this pillow! How about you? If you haven't visited with Sandy you should stop by. She does up some great patterns and so generous with her freebies.
Last week when we were away for our anniversary , I showed you a picture of one of my favorite stores, Ressurect. My purchase in there that day was a simple ordinary item. I am sure all of my chicken lover friends in blogland have many on their farms. This was my major purchase.
Yep, just a plain old chicken feeder. No I don't have chickens and some of you know the story of why I am terrified of chickens. When I was small I was chased by a mean old rooster and I was running and fell head first in the hogs trough and it was full of slop. YUK! Now you may laugh but to a little girl, I was terrified. Thus my fear of the real feathered friends. But nevertheless, this is what I have done with my feeder.
It now sits on my island and holds dishes. Yes, yes, Mr. P.. pressure washed it, cleaned it really good and put a clear coat on it for me, so it is definitely clean and safe to use. Now I have lots more room in my dish cabinet. Maybe I will be on the lookout for some new dinnerware, hnnnnnnn. Just don't tell Mr, P. (giggle)
So that about sums up a pretty busy week here at the homestead. Mother has had a few bad days this week , but then there have been a few good ones as well. Tomorrow is the Sabbeth Day and on that day God rested. Sounds like a great idea to me.
Thank you all for stopping by and welcome to my new followers. Love your visits and your comments. Until we talk again.......
How clever, I would never have thought to use that a plate holder. Your little cats are adorable, black cats have always been my favorite, you did a great job on that pumpkin. Have a nice Sunday.
ReplyDeleteAngela, Was that pattern a real pain?? I just got it and haven't tried it... maybe I should just pass on it.... OLM
ReplyDeleteThat pumpkin is great, I am glad it didnt get the best of you.

Love your pumpkin. Makes me want to decorate for fall already! Sure wish the weather was cooler. Love the chicken feeder too. What a great idea. Enjoyed our visit last night. Love you.
ReplyDeletelove that JOL...cool chicken feeder. good idea to seal it :)
ReplyDeleteYour pumpkin is ADORABLE Angela!!! I LOVE him!! I think I saw something similar on Ebay last season or so - and though, yikes....what a pain to make. Guess you confirmed that for me! I also love your little chicken feeder plate holder....Those pieces are so sweet - never would have thought to use one as cleverly as you tho. Sorry 'bout your "chicken trauma" - my mom had a somewhat similar experience with a rooster - 'cept she took the coffee can she used to carry feed in and hauled it back to throw at him and knocked her front tooth out. Oh did we howl....she looked like something straight out of the back hills!! Hope it cools down for you all - me, I'm not wishing it away no way, no how...As much as I love fall, summer is just too, too, short round these parts! Have a wonderful Sabbath...prayers for your mum....Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin
ReplyDeleteI honestly think you are one of the smartest women I know. That is so neat. And all of your goodies are great!!! Hope your mom is doing good today. Still praying.
ReplyDeleteLove all your craft goodies. I am so ready for summer to be over. I do not like the humidity at all and it doesn't like me. I have been in the house all week with my best friend the air conditioner. Got lots done though.
ReplyDeleteHey great redo on the chicken feeder...I never would have thought of that,
Have a great weekend.
Cute Halloween projects! That's a neat idea for the chicken feeder! Sorry, I had to laugh at your chicken story, but it would have been traumatic!
ReplyDeleteI love your crafts, they look great, the feeder works great too. Have a super Sunday, God bless.
ReplyDeleteGreat craft projects Angela! And I LOVE what you did with the chicken feeder! Blessings, Shirlee
ReplyDeleteWhere to begin? Your pumpkin looks amazing, I definitely won't vote you off blogland for wishing for cooler temps and the chance to display the awesome win from Sandy, and your idea for the chicken feeder is so clever! Thanks for sharing it all! I hope you are really able to rest today. :)
ReplyDeleteI am ready for cooler temps too. Love how the pumpkin turned out. Those cats are adorable, and look like they are ready for halloween.
ReplyDeleteI know your fear of chickens, we have had several mean roosters in the pen that I have been spurred by and that hurts. I got rid of those mean ones.
Love the chicken feeder idea. I have a couple of those in the shed. We use them when we have baby
chicks. Glad your hubby power washed it though.
Have a peaceful Sunday.

Cute pumpkin...we have been selling a lot of fabric these past 2 weeks, all the gals must be staying inside and sewing to stay cool. Usually summer is slow in fabrics. Cats are sweet and so is that chicken feeder, great idea girl. Congrats on your win from Sandy, adorable pillow.
ReplyDeleteThinking cool thoughts,
Connie
Angela love your JOL! It is adorable! What a clever idea for the chicken feeder .I would have never thought of doing that with it. Congrats on your win from Sandy ,the pillow is darling! Hugs,Jen
ReplyDeleteI like the JOL, he looks a tad challenging. Cool chicken feeder, I have one just sitting out in front of the house. Roosters can be mean~ especially if they flog you! My Grandma had a mean old rooster too~ she used to carry a broom whenever she went in the pen.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your day.
Renee
Angela: Your JOL turned out really great! I can believe it was a challenge. Love your chicken feeder and the creative way you've used it. My in-laws had a nasty rooster. I was wearing shorts and he came up and was looking my legs up and down like he was looking for something to peck, so I took a step backwards and he jumped at me, claws first! Nasty thing. They've never had another chicken so mean and of course, none of the others have lasted as long! ~Roberta
ReplyDeleteAngela love your crafts! The pillow is a neat gift. I,too share your fear of chickens. Only thing, my mother didn't know where my fear came from. I'll admit I am afraid of anything with feathers. No quills in my house!lol Hope your mother has more good days than bad this week.

Hi Angela, Love how the pumpkin turned out, seems like sometime the simpler ones are harder. Really neat idea with the chicken feeder, makes a great plate rack. I am so glad your mother has some good days, thats something always to be thankful for. Take care, try to stay cool, and yes I will be glad when fall comes at least I can put on a sweater and go outside, haven't been able to sit on my benches all summer. Hugs, Vicky

ReplyDeleteFirst, thank you for dropping by my blog and commenting.
I love your blog as well! The pumpkin is adorable. And congrats on the cute seed bag.
I really like your idea to use the chicken feeder for dishes. I have a smaller one, but it wouldn't work for dishes I'm afraid.
I used to be afraid of my grandma's chickens too.
Fortunately I never fell into the hog trough though!
We have a lot in common and I'm going to enjoy visiting here again. I also became your follower. Have a great Monday!
