About Me

My photo
I have been married to my childhood sweetheart for 42 wonderful years. I have been blessed with one daughter who is grown and gone! She and her hubby have blessed us with a precious grandchild, Darbee Rae. She is eight years old and the sunshine in our days. I have always been a stay at home maid, cook, doctor, babysitter, taxi, wife, mother, and grandmother. I enjoy crafting. My interests include primitives, vintage and colonial styles. I love decorating my home. I enjoy traveling with my hubby and friends, reading, and trying different recipes. I am a Christian and enjoy activities within my church. I hope you enjoy reading about my daily adventures in crafting, shopping, and enjoying life thru the eyes of my darling grand daughter.

Pride, Party, Pictures, Pooped!!

Sitting here this evening with the soft glow of the fire sending shadows across the great room I have to say my heart is filled with pride and emotions.  As a wonderful fun filled Saturday is drawing to a close, I have to recap my day with all of you my friends.

Lets go back to last night.  Around eleven o'clock the phone rings and Holly's very tired and stressed voice is on the line.  Our conversation starts with,"  I so hope one day Darbee Rae will know all the work I have done  for her birthday parites." FLASHBACK.... Around 25 years ago this month , the same words came out of my mouth as I was doing the same themed Halloween Birthday Party for Holly.  Not until she was grown and doing the same for her own did she really realize what a parent will do to make something special for her own child.  As a mother I gave her the reassurance that she needed that all would be fine and today would go great.

I arrived a little early to help her put the food out, and because I know my child so well, all was calm and under control.  The party was beautiful, lot of kiddos and adults and my heart filled with pride knowing my child did it all herself.  At some point in a mother's life it's a great feeling to know we taught our children well and have a feeling of accomplishment for a job well done.

Thought I would share a few pictures of the tables.  Can you believe the names of the food  and drinks she served her guest?

Holly even made the cupcake stand.  Thought it turned out so cute.  And there were goodie bags and spiders made by her and Darbee Rae for the kids and Halloween Bath and Body sanitizer for the Mommies.

Most of Darbee Rae's little friends came in costume and they were too cute.  Here is a picture of some of the kids at the table set up to decorate their own mini pumpkins.

Snapped a picture of Darbee Rae before all her guest arrived.  She was one excited little girl.

Of course after the party we had to take the gifts  inside and Darbee Rae, her Mommy and myself played with 3 new Barbies, vaccumed the floor with Darbee's new vaccum cleaner, opened games and activity sets, listened to music on her portable CD player and when this tired Nana left she and her Mommy were opening her new DS.

All you Moms out there who still have children at home know how tired but happy Holly must feel knowing today was a success, and it is now over and almost bedtime.

All of you Grandmas and Nanas who are fortunate enough to be able to celebrate your grandchild's birthday with them, know the feeling of love, pride and thanfullness that I feel tonight.

Hoping you all have had a wonderful fall day and don't forget to be thankful for the little things that make life enjoyable.

Goodnight......

  1. Thank you for being a good teacher. I too thought of that same birthday party many times over as I prepared for Darbee's party. You made her day today and I thank you for loving me and my little girl so much. "Santa" will always hold a special place in our hearts.

  5. What a blessing for all three generations. Isn't it wonderful to such an important part of their lives? Every grandmother isn't you know. I find that so sad. What a lot of work and love went into that party. Know what? Before we know it, it will be Darbee Rae giving one! OH NO!!!! I loved attending through your eyes.

And I have to agree that pride in our children and grandkids is the absolute BEST! I spent Saturday at Six Flags watching my grandkids on the rides with their moms. Life is good :)
