About Me

My photo
I have been married to my childhood sweetheart for 42 wonderful years. I have been blessed with one daughter who is grown and gone! She and her hubby have blessed us with a precious grandchild, Darbee Rae. She is eight years old and the sunshine in our days. I have always been a stay at home maid, cook, doctor, babysitter, taxi, wife, mother, and grandmother. I enjoy crafting. My interests include primitives, vintage and colonial styles. I love decorating my home. I enjoy traveling with my hubby and friends, reading, and trying different recipes. I am a Christian and enjoy activities within my church. I hope you enjoy reading about my daily adventures in crafting, shopping, and enjoying life thru the eyes of my darling grand daughter.

The Most Wonderful Girl's Trip Part 1

Hoping this Tuesday finds all of you doing great.  It is promising to be a beautiful day at the homeplace today.  Sun is shining brightly and leaves are falling from our trees like raindrops. Going to be in 70's here so all you ladies who like warm weather come on down.  I was hoping for a cool rainy day as I have so much winter crafts on my list to do.  Kinda hard when its like summer outside.

Okay, let me update you on my absence for a few days.  For more years than I like to admit Holly and I have taken a girl trip at some point in Nov. or Dec.  Even so the year Darbee Rae was born.  She came in Oct. and 6 wks later we were staying in North Ga Mt. along with our new bundle of joy.

On Thursday Holly called from school and told me to pack my bags.  She had been thinking about it and this past weekend was about the only time we could go unless we waited until right before Christmas. Now if you know me,,, my bags stay ready to go.  I was so excited and got busy preparing food to leave for Mr P and needless to say I was ready to go. We left as soon as she and Darbee Rae got out of school on Friday.

This trip we went to Piegon Forge, TN.  Of course on Friday it was late when we arrived... After 9 p.m.  We got our room and hit the streets searching for stores that might still be open late.  Found a few. Did you know Krispy Creme Donuts had hot donuts a few minutes before midnight? And we were in line for a dozen and coffee..  We spent time back in the hotel, playing with Darbee Rae who was so excited and still going strong.  I think she finally gave it up and passed out around 1:30.  Holly did her thing, I finished a book I was reading and we had some good deep Mother and Daughter chats.

Those of you who read all my ramblings know that Darbee Rae will not stay over with me at night.  She has to be with her Mommy.  But every visit in a hotel and she will sleep with me.  I was so excited to get to spend the night with my angel.  We read a book or played on her DS befores she gave it up and went to sleep.  I literally slept on "Cloud Nine" with her beside me.  Thought this was a sweet picture.

Yep, to sleep with Darbee Rae, I had Chole and bear!!!  However once she was sleeping soundly Chole found a bed elsewhere!!!

Saturday was going to be such a fun day.  Yes, we had a full day of shopping already planned out.  Why does time fly by when you are having sooo much fun?  If you love fall and want it to last just a while longer, but love Christmas and all the excitment then Piegon Forge is the place to go this time of year.  We were literally able to take our pick on the season to celebrate.

This was the most beautiful fall tree decorated perfect for the fall season.  But just outside the door this is what we saw.

Sorry, this one is a little blurry, but this old Nana was sure she was not going to need a coat.   SHHH, don't let the mister hear me admit this.  I mean why should  I need a coat going up to the mountains on a weekend trip in November?   Well if you want to keep the camera steady and its kinda cold outside a coat might have been the perfect solution. If you look closely in the background there are pumpkins.  See,,, just take your pick.  As for me, I enjoyed the fall and the scenery, but shopping,,, totally in the Christmas mode!

I will stop here for today.  I still have to unpack and that is never as much fun as packing now is it?  I found so many great goodies and Saturday I got to meet a wonderful blogging friend.  What a great day for sure.  .  Will be back in a day or two and share all the fun with you.

Today, take care, have some fun, and remember you are ALL so special to me.  Thanks for stopping by and we will talk again soon.
Unitl then........

  7. You are truly blessed my friend - a girls' trip is an amazing thing in and of itself - but to have your "girls' gang" include your daughter and grand is just the icing on the cake. Love the photo of Darbee and Santa (blurry or not!) She is such a little doll - and always dressed cute as a button! Will be looking forward to the sequels! Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin

  9. I was wondering where you have been. I haven't been to Pigeon Forge in several years. I bet the leaves are beautiful this time of year. So nice to have a girls weekend trip, especially with the granddaughter. My granddaughter will not stay all night with anyone either. She says yes, then when it is time to go, she says, I need to go home with mommy and see daddy. I guess that's a 5 year old for you. She is so attached to her mom and dad. I do hope one day we can take a girls trip together. Glad you had this time together with yours.

  10. Sounds like you had a wonderful time. Girl trips are so much fun!!
We go to Tennessee once a year, but I haven't been to Pigeon Forge in many years. It is only 45 minutes from where we stay with family while in Tennessee...hoping to get over to that area on our next trip down that way.
    hugs,
    Cindy
