About Me

My photo
I have been married to my childhood sweetheart for 42 wonderful years. I have been blessed with one daughter who is grown and gone! She and her hubby have blessed us with a precious grandchild, Darbee Rae. She is eight years old and the sunshine in our days. I have always been a stay at home maid, cook, doctor, babysitter, taxi, wife, mother, and grandmother. I enjoy crafting. My interests include primitives, vintage and colonial styles. I love decorating my home. I enjoy traveling with my hubby and friends, reading, and trying different recipes. I am a Christian and enjoy activities within my church. I hope you enjoy reading about my daily adventures in crafting, shopping, and enjoying life thru the eyes of my darling grand daughter.

Mother's Journey Ended Tonight

So many of you have followed along with me for the last five months as I talked of the journey Mother was on and the sadness I felt the day we had to call in Hospice.  I want to thank everyone of you for your kind words, your concerns and most of all for your prayers.

On Tuesday I recieved the call that she had suddenly taken for the worse.  I spent Tuesday by her bedside and was back this morning.  Around 7:30 this evening Mr. P and I joined hands and prayed that God would let me be there when the time came.  The nursing home would not let you stay in the room past 11 p.m.  After our prayer 10 minutes later Mother drew her last breathe.  I was there and Kathy and Holly walked in a few seconds before the end.  God is go good.  Mother is no longer blind and can't you imagine the sights she must be seeing, and what a renunion with my Daddy in Heaven.  She lived to be 90 years old and had such a blessed life.

My heart is heavy and I am sad, but there is such a feeling of peace that overpowers the pain and loss.  Please keep me and our family in your prayers for the next few days.  Please take time to hug your Moms and Dads and your family.  Let them know you love them.  Life is short.  We are not promised tomorrow.

I love all of you.  Thanks again for your prayers.

  1. I'm so very sorry. The pain of loosing my Dad is still very fresh, so I understand what you are going through. Even though we know that God knows best and our parents are no longer in pain, it doesn't take the hurt away. Just know that I'm here if you ever need to talk, Dawn

  4. I'm so sorry for your loss.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
My Dad past away 12 yrs ago and I still feel the pain. My mother is in a nursing home also.

I cannot believe the nursing home doesn't let you stay past 11. I work at a nursing home, and if we have residents that are dying, the families can stay how ever long they want. We had families all ready stay for days. We provide pillows, blankets, a place to sleep and refreshments, snacks and meals.
Take Care and I will be thinking and praying for you.

  8. what a heartfelt post of the last hours you spent with Mom. I am truly sorry for your loss. I know what it is like to lose a Mother. I lost mine when I was 38 and she was 55. I do not regret being with her and loving her all I could. You get some sleep and prepare yourself for the next few days. Please accept my sympathy.

    God bless,

  10. Angela, My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I know that there is sadness but also relief that her pain has ended. God has welcomed her home and she will indeed enjoy her pain free afterlife with all those who have gone before. May Almighty God keep her safely in His loving arms for the time that you are all reunited.

  12. Angela,
I am sorry to hear about your loss. I don't think it matters how long we've been with our loved one, it just never feels quite long enough. I have read here about the ups and downs your Mom has been through over the past several months so I know there has to be a measure of relief that those difficult days for her are done. But it's still so final, right? I am sending up prayers for you and your family to have good memories flood your minds, and you will be in my thoughts especially during the weeks ahead.

  19. Angela,
I am so sorry for your loss. Losing one's Mother is hard no matter when or how it happens. You will feel the loss each day, but that only means she filled places in your heart everyday of her life. I wish there was something to be sent or said that would ease the pain. I just give you a big ol' hug like everyone else.
