About Me

My photo
I have been married to my childhood sweetheart for 42 wonderful years. I have been blessed with one daughter who is grown and gone! She and her hubby have blessed us with a precious grandchild, Darbee Rae. She is eight years old and the sunshine in our days. I have always been a stay at home maid, cook, doctor, babysitter, taxi, wife, mother, and grandmother. I enjoy crafting. My interests include primitives, vintage and colonial styles. I love decorating my home. I enjoy traveling with my hubby and friends, reading, and trying different recipes. I am a Christian and enjoy activities within my church. I hope you enjoy reading about my daily adventures in crafting, shopping, and enjoying life thru the eyes of my darling grand daughter.

An Ordinary Day

While so many of my blogging friends are literally "snowed" in, today in the south was a cold, cloudy ordinary winter day. I had errands to run in town so called my daughter and decided to meet her and Darbee Rae at Darbee's favorite place to eat.... want to guess--- yes McDonald's. What we do for our grandchildren, right?,
When I arrived they were already there and Darbee was having fun in the play area. She ran up to give me a hug, and I couldn't believe my eyes. The picture below does not do her justice. She had pink, pink lipstick all around her lips, and caked on her lips. She had on purple eye shadow and was smiling from ear to ear. Yep, she thought she was BEAUTIFUL. I couldn't even get a good kiss. She did not want me to mess up her "make-up ." Little did she know Nana didn't want to kiss her with her lips caked in lipstick. I did get a tight hug and off she went again to play.
I looked at my daughter and said,"What did you mean bringing her to town like that?"  And her reply was that she thought she was so pretty because she had put make-up on herself.   And she wanted Nana to see.  Thank goodness, she ate a chocolate chip cookie and her mouth had to be wiped. Did her lipstick get wiped off....you be the judge. (ha)   Couldn't resist a picture of my princess.
All of you experiencing the winter storm, stay warm and please be safe.

  1. Your daughter did the right thing...Darbee thought she was pretty special and your daughter played along which in turn made Darbee's day for sure. Life is all about the little things this was a special moment, I loved it. I can see my granddaughter Amber doing the same thing, we call her the social butterfly. Everyday is a fun experience, you never know what will come out of her mouth. Thanks for sharing, darling picture, got to love those girls.....

  2. That is so sweet! I remember those days too when my girls wanted make up on. I let them do it too. They felt like a princess even when they looked like a little clown. Sweet memories. I was reading your profile and me and you are just alike. I have always been a stay at home cook, maid, etc and loved every minute of it.

  3. Hi Angela, Thank you for leaving such a nice note on my blog. People keep telling me my life will change forever when the grandbaby comes, there is nothing like a grandbaby. Brandi teaches 5-k, so I will be taking care of it during the day. Your little Darbee is adorable. Can't wait until it gets big enough to do things with it. You have a nice blog, I have only been doing it since last fall. Looking forward to getting to know you since we will have grandbabies to talk about. Vicky
